It's the sealant that they used where the sheet metal joins together . You can see it when you open the trunk and look in the area between the seal and the rear quarter panel area. Near the window. These are two different issues. The window electronic switch needs to be tested to see if you are getting current. If not, may have to replace switch (see if the terminals are clean on the switch & no loose wires). I have same issue just that it is has only failed twice, then after a few minutes I would try again and my window would go back up & haven't had time to check it out. I think I have a ghost living in my car. lol
2nd issue the turn signals: most likely caused by condensation, check all sockets (mine were corroded) unfortunately the moisture still gets into the lens, fine tiny cracks in the lens that is allowing moisture in. By mid morning the condensation has dried and my turn signals work. You might also check the fuse & bulbs first if you get a fast or slow signal indicator on instrument panel. However I have another issue; when I apply the brakes the signals stop flashing in the rear (both turn signals) Either further corrosion or condensation. A mechanic told me it was in the switching of the control indicator at the steering column... I guess when we drive an 18 year old car these things will happen. There are two flasher fuses one in the fuse box near air filter under hood & a fuse box in the trunk, left hand side all the way to the back of the trunk, pull up carpeting on back wall.
Is it possible the trunk lid is not aligned right and not applying pressure to the gasket ? Or do you have a crack in the seam where the quarter panel and the center pillar meet up ? Or is it getting in behind the tail lamp ?
might check for plugged up drains in corners below the spare tire area and see if weatherstripping is in good shape around trunk.. also check for runoff of water with the trunk openned by slowly pouring water over base of back window..check for leakage..ansd plug leaking aereas
probablly the result of insufficiently sealed body seams.empty trunk, sprinkle baby powder everywhere use vehicle or get it washed and look for trails in powder ...follow back to source.a little messy but very definitive!
If it has no visible cracks, it may just be a little vent on back of housing is plugged. They usually have a small round piece about 1/4"-3/8" on back of housing, that has a real small piece of screen-like material in the middle, that will get plugged from time to time and not allow it to vent, thus causes condensation as well.
Sounds to me like your issue is with condensation from your air conditioner. The condensation isn't properly draining, probably from a damaged or clogged drain hose.
You won't be able to get the condensation out of the lamps. The light assemblies are sealed and only have a small hole where ther bulbs go in as well as a small vent. The condensation is normal and will come and go. Even if you put a new light assmebly on the car you could still get the condensation. Go to the dealer for the brake pedal pad.
