Lost of power under load(misfire)

My 92 Izusu Trooper, 3.2LV6 SOHC, A/T been having a problem with power under load(when flooring the gas pedel), a misfire in one of the cyclinders with a pop evry once in a while. I changed the spark plugs, and do not have a mass air flow. It dosen't seem like there is a blockage in the exhaust! I had to repair a spak plug wire or two, and an exhaust leak, but now I'm lost. Should I look into cahnging the wires, and the coil packs(distributer). Or could it be something else?? I don't really want to start throwing too much money at it since I got it pretty cheap! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You in advance,

B!

It is missfiring when I accelerate. Could this mean a break down with the spark plug wires under load?

  • Bohicaman Mar 01, 2009

Well, Thank you for the info, but that didn't fix it! So, I changed the plug wires with OEM wires from Napa and no good fix. It still misfires under load any more ideas?

In most cases that would be the plug wires, if u do them youreself do one wire at a time and route them correctly, replace any plastic cable clips they snap in to, do this and u will have a quality job that will cure your problem for years, if the plugs are more than 60 miles old change them as well, use the same plugs as the factory used, don't use Autolite..

kinda hard to diagnose from a computer keyboard, did my best, had the plug wires already been replaced before I made the suggestion? if so isn't TFT an inappropriate rating. Good luck.

Wish I had an answer - sounds very much like a problem I am having with my '92 LS400. I have a parts car, and have changed out the ECM, fuel pump, injectors, fuel pilter, fuel pressure regulator, ran the can with exhaust unbolted (check for clogged CATs, checked out my timing belt for slippage amoung other things, and nothing works. I have no check engine light on. Do you?

It sounds like a fuel delivery issue so it could be many things such as low fuel pressure from the pump, clogged or partially pluged fuel filter, a malfunctioning throttle posisitioning sensor (if you have a check engine light on) or if its turbo it could be turbo lag etc.

92 Trooper will not start!

An O2 Sensor wouldn't cause all your Problems... I would First see if your fuel pump is kicking on, Just have your buddy get in the truck, and turn the key to the ACC notch (its the one where all the lights on the dash light up) and you need to get under the gas tank and you should hear the Pump kick on, If you don't then your Fuel pump went bad.

The Over Heating Problem, Might be One of three things 1 Low Coolent/Old Coolent. Or 2 Your Radaitor is just too old to cool effectly, Replace the Rad and you should eb good, Or third would be your fan clutch, Pop the hood, And spin the fan, if it will spin but not vary far and theres resistance. The fan clutch is good, But if you can spin the fan Freely with no restance then you need a new fan clutch.

Need a new Transmission assy.

GT4x4 are probably your best bet, or alternatively breakerlink or breakeryard (google for them)
