If cable still attached to broken handle, and you can see cable, use sor something and give it a pull if you need hood open now. if not, stop at dealer a.s.a.p. and grab new handle assy, or autowreckers, and replace it before you destroy cable by using pliers etc.If cable actually broke, see above comment.
You are going to have to either remove the panneling to get at the cable and pull it with vise grip or try to get up inside the hood from the front and release the latch that way . either way is going to be tough to get to.

Hi not sure on model but if you can access the safty release part you should be able to see where the snapped wire is or was conected to use a flat head screw driver to pushvthe main release across i had a similer thing happen on my pug its a nitemare when they snap
IF HOOD LATCH RELEASE CABLE BROKE AT RELEASE HANDLE YOU CAN TAKE A PAIR NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS PULL THE CABLE ENOUGH TO OPEN HOOD SO YOU CAN REPLACE RELEASE CABLE.
Usually the handle breaks off the cable, you should be able to use some vise grips to grab a hold of the cable and pull it to open the hood. To repair it the cable assembly will have to be replaced. If not you will have to gain access to the latch which is located in the front center of the hood and using a screw driver or something similar push the lever to release the latch.
If you pull on the release handle inside the car and it does not "pop"
the hood open, make sure the hood is not already "popped". If it is,
then try to push the hood down firmly until it does not pop up
anymore. Then, try the interior pull handle again. If the hood is
completely closed and the pull handle does not pop it open, try to
remove the handle slightly from the dash. This involves removing 2
phillips head screws (one from either side of the handle). When these
are out, you should be able to pull the handle and its small
trim/holder piece. See if this is broken and try to pull back on the
actual release cable ("silver" braided wire) with a pair of wires.
If nothing above pertains to the issue, then let me go to a different
one. If the pull handle works fine and "pops" the hood like normal,
but you are unable to unlatch the hood, then I need more information as to the conditions of the problem. Has it released properly in the past?
Also, make sure that you are pulling the correct lever when trying to unlatch the hood. Standing in front of the car facing it, the lever will be just to the left of the very center of the hood. It should have a yellow end. Pull up on that and everything should release.
If these ideas do not help you out, then I will need more information. Let me know and I'll be glad to help you through.
crawl under the front of your car and by sight or feel find the broken cable and pull on it to open your hood.also it the cable is too short feel if you can find the lever from under the car to release to hood.
Hi viper852004 , the only way you can do this is to remove the front grills and then you will be able to see the 2 sprung bonnet pegs, you will need to loosen the adjusting nut where it screws into the hood and unscrew it until it becomes unattatched from the hood, do this for both pegs and then you should be able to release the hood to fix the problem. the pegs will need to be reinstalled before driving the car as the hood will not close, hope this is of some help, regards mark.
pull the lever and with your hand pull up on the hood. You may need somebody to hold the lever inside the car while somebody pulls up on the hood. The spring mechanism may be faulty.
usually just a cable that needs tightened.. look for screw attached to cable near the latch thats on the hood use a screwdriver to tighten. worked for me ;) goodluck
