Owner claims new trans was put in 550mi. ago. Panel shows ''low coolant''. Car front end seems to run rough, or death wobble....owner says thats due to lg. wheels 255? More concerned with panel reading. What can my daughter & I check before purchasing?
We live 3.5hrs. from seller....tough to find a mechanic to check for us.
body of car immaculate....
Check Coolant Level! Could just be low coolant in reservoir or radiator.
"Death Wobble" sounds bad but could just be tires and/or alignment. Wobble could also be worn front end parts (ball joints-upper&lower).
To check suspension (front end) car should be jacked up so wheels can be shaken to see if anything is loose and inspect rubber boots on ball joints for play and wear.
I always ask if I can take the car in for an inspection and then I run it through local DMV before buying! This saved me a couple of times from a bad buy!
Hope this is Helpful!

Either the front bearing assemblies are bad or if it's a 4wd, the outer u-joints are bad. Check steering box and components. The low coolant light could be as easy as the surge tank float that measured coolant level could be stuck down.
Hi. ok, the low coolant light is a bad sign. this can be a minor leak in many areas on the engine. i would ask the dealer about the service record on the coolant system. you will want to know when the last radiator flush was preformed as well as, when was the last thermostat replacement was done. next, ask the dealer for an accident record. this can be done online on carfacts.com but, the dealer should do this. if he is hesitant, don't buy this vehicle. I would also do a lemon test. Look at the tail pipe and rub the inside of this pipe with the tip of your finger. if its black and smells like rich gas/oil mixture, it will need a re-haul soon. one more thing, when driving, pay attention to the way the steering reacts to your command. if its lose, its not good. check all light functions as well.
