Check the air ride suspension system if that is causing the problem the car maybe trying to lift the rear end and it will cause the battery to lose charge check in the trunk for a shut off switch and see if that helps

94 Nissan sentra will not charge battery but wit car off battery reads 12 Volts then when u fire it up the volts drop down to 11.76 can't find any thing to solve this what s the problem

First, check the belt that runs the alternaotor, make sure it is'nt slipping...

Then have the alternator checked out, this is probably your culprit; as the alternator slowly wears out, it will still send current, but not at the peak performance. if the alternator checks out fine, inspect wiring harness to make sure all connections are good.

Battery will not keep charge

You havent said if you've tested the alternator. The alternator charges the battery. If the alternator doesnt charge, then everytime the battery is used (starting, lights etc), this will eventually flatten the battery. If you can confirm that the alternator is charging, then check your battery. Open the caps on the top andsee if you have any water in the battery-top up to just below the cell inner-lip with DISTILLED water, try to start it (even if u need to jump start it) and drive around for about 30 mins or more to give time to charge the battery (engine has to be at above idle). If you try this for a few times and still no sign of the battery charging, the battery may need to be replaced.

YOUR ALTERNATOR NOT WORKING.HAVE BATTERY CHARGED UP.YOU SHOULD HAVE 12.6 VOLTS IF BATTERY FULLY CHARGED OR NEW.START THE ENGINE.WITH ENGINE IDLING YOU SHOULD HAVE 13.5 - 14.5 VOLTS AT THE BATTERY.IF NOT.ALTERNATOR NOT CHARGING BATTERY.BEFORE REPLACING ALTERNATOR, MAKE SURE DRIVE BELT NOT SLIPPING,CHECK ALTERNATOR FUSE,CHECK ALTERNATOR POWER FEED WIRE AND VOLTAGE REGULATOR WIRES FOR DAMAGE AND LOOSE CONNECTIONS. BEFORE DISCONNECTING NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE TO MAKE REPAIR, TURN OFF RADIO FIRST TO KEEP FROM LOCKING IT OUT.

My 1999 mitsubishi diamante will not start. I got a friend to jump it but it still would not start. I took the battery out and took it to autozone to charge it. But autozone would not charge it because...

It sounds like you need a new starter. If you hear the starter click when you turn the key to start, replace your starter since you already replaced the battery. You might want to have your alternator checked out, or when you get your car started, test the battery terminals with a multimeter. You should have around 14 volts with the car running. If not, you will need a new alternator. The alternator won't keep the car from starting though, unless the battery was drained because it wasn't charged. Even then it is the battery keeping the car from starting.

If the starter is not clicking, check your fuses under the hood. If all checks out, you may have a bad ignition switch.

Battery not charging warning light showing

mcdevito75 here, The replaced alternator should have a warrantee, bring it back to the shop that replaced it. If you did the work yourself and even if it's a rebuilt, you should still be able to exchange it. Some manufactureres recommend a new alternator and not rebuilt, plus if you"ve added any moe electrical items you"ll need a stromger alternator (higher amp).
