SOURCE: 1996 jeep cherokee sport starter

disconnect the battery, negative side first.
remove both positive wires from the starter.
remove the bolts from the starter.
install new starter.
make sure positive starter wires are free of corrosion and rust, use sand paper or a file.
tighten positive wires just snug, then another 1/4 turn, ** not too tight or you will snap the stud off the starter solenoid**.
coat wire ends and starter studs with die-electric grease, battery protector, spray paint , or something non metalic.
connect vehice battery, negative side last.

SOURCE: 1996 jeep cherokee sport where do i add freon

Look for the a/c pipe that has a blue cap on it, that's the low pressure side where the freon goes.
The pipe with the red cap is the high pressure side, you don't put the freon in that one.
I can't tell you exactly where the connection is, different models are in different places.

SOURCE: Where is the location of the fuel pump reset

You don't have one on there. Pump is turned on and off by the automatic shutdown relay and the pump relay. The crank sensor signal keeps it on. If the asd relay does not get a signal from the computer (from the crank sensor), it turns off the pump relay (and spark).
The pump should run when you first turn the key on. When you start the engine, if the computer gets no signal from the crank sensor it will shut the engine off (no fuel, no spark = off)
If when you first turn the key to on, you can't hear the pump, likely either the pump has failed (check power at the pump harness) or the relay is bad.(swap relay for a known good one and try it).

Ok so I changed the speed sensor by the transfer case on my 2001 Jeep Cherokee sport (xj) and I'm having trouble finding the other speed sensor location any advice?

On a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport (XJ), there are typically two speed sensors: the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) and the rear axle speed sensor. The VSS is located on the transmission or transfer case, while the rear axle speed sensor is located on the rear differential housing. Here are some tips to locate the rear axle speed sensor: 1. Locate the rear differential housing: The rear differential is typically positioned towards the rear of the vehicle, underneath the rear cargo area. Look for the large metal housing connected to the rear axle. 2. Identify the speed sensor: The rear axle speed sensor is usually mounted on the differential housing itself. It will have a wiring harness connected to it. 3. Follow the wiring harness: Trace the wiring harness from the rear axle speed sensor. It will lead you to a connector that is plugged into the vehicle's wiring system. The connector may be located near the rear axle or along the frame. 4. Inspect the differential housing: Look closely at the differential housing for a small protrusion with a threaded hole. This is where the rear axle speed sensor is installed. It may have a retaining bolt securing it in place.

1997 Jeep Cherokee 4.o litre, the rear diff housing is almost to hot to touch after driving for about 30 minutes. Checked oil level thats ok no other noises.

Either the vent hose is blocked

The fluid needs to be changed

Or the most likely cause, is a bad bearing
somewhere.

If you drain the oil, you will see a silvery
like mix in the gear oil from the bearing

You need to run the axle off the ground and
use a stethoscope to listen to it.
That may not give results either

Then you just strip the entire axle housing
and go thru it

I selected part time 4wd on my 1996 jeep cherokee sport. Seconds after engaging I heard a loud noise from the front left hand side of the car and now I'm not able to de-select part time 4wd to any other...

sounds like you have a broken c/v joint or differential up front. Likely the joint. Have someone look under there to see what's not moving or what is, without driving the front wheel. If it's the joint, you can easily replace it. A complete used axle from a scrapyard or a rebuilt one from a parts house is relatively easy to replace if you have a half decent set of tools and a decent manual such as chilton or haynes. Only part they may not mention is that you need to hold the axle centered as it goes into the gear set...If you don't it will knock the inner seal out and cause a leak.
If you need further help, just ask!!
