SOURCE: The idle drops when i put it in gear almost stalling the engine

That is normal, in park or neutral there is no resistance on the engine when you put it in gear there is resistance because the car wants to move. Also when you turn on the ac that turns on the compressor that is run off the belts of the engine so it puts more resistance on the engine. Low idle is not a problem unless the engine dies.

SOURCE: starts fine, idles fine, stalls when put in gear to

Try depressing slightly the gas pedal to see if the engine continues to run when you put it in gear. Might have to depredd gas pedal and brake simultaniusly. if the engine continues to run, then the problem is in the idle circuit. Try decarboning the throttle body and the idle speed control.

SOURCE: rough idle in gear (drive). Sometimes it stalls

IDLES ROUGH AND STALLS WHEN WARM OUTSIDE

Check for broken breather hose from valve cover and follow it under the intake. You may also have a ruptured diaphragm crankcase ventilation valve (vac leak), bolted under intake manifold.

WELL YOU HAVE NEW VECHICLE UNDER WARRANTY.I WOULD SAY BAD GAS WILL CAUSE YOUR PROBLEM.BEST TO LET DEALERSHIP CHECK IT OUT.A FAULTY EGR OR IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE WILL CAUSE ROUGH IDLING AND STALLING.BUT THOSE ARE NEW PARTS THAT STILL COULD BE DEFECTIVE.

Revs up and runs rough then stalls, it runs very rough, it can barely idle, put in gear and it stalls

I would like more info on the vehicle, as to the engine size. There are vacuum leaks on this engine, both the 4cyl and 6cyl. The injector lower seals are prone to cause this condition, but to check for this and to do it safely, is have it smoke tested with the proper test equipment. The EGR valves can also stick partially open, causing a rough idle and then a idle fluctuation and a stalling problem. Another poss cause is the idle control motor is failing. This vehicle should be taken in for service at a very reputable repair shop. If not properly diag, will cost hundreds of dollars just to "PUT PARTS ON IT UNTIL IT RUNS GOOD".

Have 1991 k1500 that idles rough; slows almost to stall, then speeds up, but eventually stalls, stalls when put into gear.

Does the truck stay running when you depress the gas pedal slightly? If so I would maybe suggest checking the IAC or idle air controller. In some cases they can be cleaned however most cases they need to be replaced. Not sure if this is your problem, but it is a place to start.
