Started having overheating problems, parked the vehicle till i could determine the problem and wait for paycheck, replaced thermostat and hoses. went to crank the vehicle up after replacing those battery was dead. took battery to get charged and tested, tested good and now has full charge. now the vehicle will not crank, still has power but wont fire. any suggestions
Sounds to me like your starting motor has gone bad or is going bad. If you can locate the starting motor, give it a few taps with a hammer (not too heavy), which should loosen up the brushes inside. Try starting the car after that. Hopefully you can get it started. If not, you may have to replace the starting motor altogether.

The instructions for installing a new alternator usually read to fully charge the battery (12.3 - 12.8 volt range). Otherwise, the alternator will be damaged when it initializes. I have seen some extreme damage result from installing a new alternator with a low-charge battery. The torque required to turn an alternator when damaged in this scenario is unbelieveable!

the battery is no good have an AVR test done,if it is good there is a fusible link that goes to the feedback circuit on the alternator in alot of cars.if the alternator went,it could have blown the fuse link.if you put a charged up battery in there it will run quite a while. but the battery could have been bad and thats what took out the alternator...the other thing you may want to look for is something draining the battery, disconnect the terminal, and put a current meter in series.it should be 1 to 2 milliamps only.sometimes a glovebox light, trunk light etc, drains the battery.
