Trans works fine at times then slips in second and third gear.
SOURCE: i lost my third gear
It seems in the manual transmissions the first gear to go is 3rd gear..
signs of a failing trans

you'll want to check your detent cable at the throttle body, if the cable is tight then it's out of adjustment. you should have slack in it. Basically it's trying to stay in low gear because it thinks your at wide open throttle and needs to downshift. There's a clip that you have to pull out and the pull the cable forward and at the same time put the clip back, this will give you slack. You may have to adjust it a few times.

I need a little mor info. But the reason for the being stuck in 2nd gear is because when something goes wrong with the tranny. it goes into "LIMP" mode wich keeps the trans. from shifting out of 2nd when you are going forward. It does sound like your trans. is gone out though.

P0700 - Transmission Control System Malfunction.
The code basically what that means is that a malfunction has been detected in the transmission and associated components. There is good news and bad news. The good news is it might be covered under warranty. You didn't say if your vehicle is still under warranty, be aware that you may still have warranty coverage on this since your car is just 3 years old. The bad news is that the P0700 code really means that there are transmission-specific codes that you can't access with a regular code reader. There is a part called a TCM - transmission control module that works in a similar way to your PCM. The TCM handles the transmission electrical "stuff" and it stores further transmission codes.
If you want to pursue the issue yourself, you'll need to get your hands on a higher end code reader, or take it to the dealer or a transmission shop to get the actual transmission trouble codes read. Personally we recommend you get a shop to read those codes for you. The other codes are communication codes, we recommend you clear those codes after you fix the P0700 code and see if they come back, they could be related to the "main" transmission issue. The other good news is the fix for this may just be a software update that the dealer can do.
P1728 - Transmission Slip Error
THis code indicates that the transmission is slipping. When the computer
that controls the transmission detects a fault code like P1728, it will put the
transmission into a "limp" mode. When the code is cleared and the transmission will
function properly until the slippage occurs again. To resolve this problem, you
will need to get your transmission overhauled.
Hope help with this.
