SOURCE: I have a 2006 bmw 525i. The Check engine light

usually it means to check the oil level, and if that is niot the issue you will have to check the error code you get from a diagnostics of your computer... the check engine light could mean anything from an O2 Sensor to a major repair, and everything in between. New vehiclwes are not as easy to just diagnose with so little information, but of it was a 1978 buick and the check engine light came ion, it almost always meant to check the oil level, because it was connected to the oil pressure switch..... todays vehicles are all run from a computer and thus the check engine light is mwenat to never be ignored. Get an error code reading first and once that is given to me then I could tell you what is happening.

Brake system problem

Sounds like the ABS system has a fault, goto to a Brake specialist to have the system verified.

If the brake lights are really on (?) this represents about a 4-5 ampere drain that would drag down most batteries in less than a day. (Could be over 100 ampere/hours.)
I don't know your car but brake lights can be controlled by a switch operated by the pedal suspension or a pressure switch that monitors hydraulic pressure in the braking circuit.

If your brake lights are on, the switch that controls them has failed or a relay that is operated by the switch.

If the car seems sluggish or pulls when driven, it could be a failure in the ABS circuit since that is a high-demand (normally intermittant) load.

The best way to locate the problem would be to monitor the current drain with a meter in series from the battery (engine off, monitor the ground side) and pull and replace fuses one-by-one to see which circuit is the culprit.
