I would say thats for you to decide. You got to weight all your options, whats the1300.00 for replacement engine? Or what, if it was up to me i would most likely get a nother car but thats me, you got to do whats best for you and your situation.

2003 chrysler concord nocks pings left side

Knocking and pinging are two separate things. "Knocking" usually refers to the sound an engine makes when internal mechanical parts, such as piston rod bearings or connecting rod bearings, begin to wear and cause a deep "knock, knock, knock" sound during engine rotation. "Pinging" refers to the tapping sound you get upon acceleration, either when using fuel that is to loo octane for the vehicle, or when static timing is set too far advanced, or when the cylinder heads are overheating due to clogged water channels or thin oil.
If you are hearing KNOCKING on the left side, it is likely time for an engine rebuild. If you are hearing PINGING, you may need a better grade of fuel, or you are way overdue for either an oil change or a major tune-up.

I have a 2000 chrysler concorde that the engine light just popped on - the error codes are po302, po420, po340

P0302-cylinder #2 misfire detected
P0420- catalyst efficiency below threshold bank 1
P0340-No cam signal at PCM.
The Cam sensor most likely needs to be replaced first. Clear the codes after that and drive and see what comes back on.

more than likely it could be a crank postion sensor but more than likely the tranny is slipping or having torque converter failure.
