There should be a cable you can pull, around the area of the fuel flap. Open your hatch and check under any carpeting or interior coverings/compartments for something to pull.

Vw golf mk4 my rear passenger door willnot open with central locking key system. i can't even open it from the inside, pull the door handle and the lock pin rises but door won't open. i believ

This worked for me on 2008 Mk5 Golf, after the rear passenger door would not open fro outside or inside.

Hold the inside door latch open and keep it extended, then with the key fob open and close the door locks (still holding the inside latch open). Keep locking and unlocking the door, then it made a kluck and it released.

My central locking on my 1997 vw golf just stopped working it sounded like it was trying to work but now does nothing. also the gas tank cover wont open as its stuck on lock...any advice on what i can try?

the gas flap is operated with the central locking, stand at rear of car with tailgate open, just inside to the right, under the floormat you will find the central locking pump.but first renew the batteries in the remotes then unlock the car with the key and hold the key over for 30 secs, the windows may go down,
then lock the car with the key and hold over for 30 secs, the windows may go up and the sunroof,if fitted will close, then unlock with remote button held down for 30 secs, this will reset alarm/central locking.
if you need to get to gas flap, pull carpet away in boot behind flap area and pull wire to unlock....

Emergency latch for gas cap 2000 VW Beetle, where is it?

From the manual:
  • Open the rear lid.
  • Open the cover on the backside of the luggage compartment. To open the cover, turn the two "quick-releases" and fold the cover down.
  • Reach through the opening by the fuel filler flap. Grab the cable with th plastic covering and pull down. The filler flap will open by itself.
Best of luck!

Soleniod pump

it sounds like its the air type which is the most common ones before about 1998 on vw. you can try to locate the pipes inside the boot compartment (which is where the pump should be as well) and then just plug it with a screw temporarily. i think the rubber boot on your fuel pump's solenoid is also bust so you are going to have to pull the lever inside the boot to open the fuel flap. i prefer to leave my fuel flap disconnected as you dont have to open all the doors of the car to open the fuel flap. hope this helps.

Fuel compartiment

You can open it manually by removing the boot side panel and pulling on the actuator . But the fuel flap actuator is a common fault and change the cable at the same time . Quite a cheap job to do Regards VW Audi Tech
