Front AC/Heater Fan Out, 2001 Dodge Durango

A month ago I could smell that overheated electric wire smell and the front AC/Heater fan stopped working except for when it was on the 'highest' setting. Today none of the settings work.
I suspect a failing AC/Heater Switch. I've never been under the dash, any thoughts?
Is there an on-line repair, repalce guide?

My 1999 durango 5.2, it over heats, loses power, makes a sound when losing power, maybe needs a solenoid?

If it only overheats at idle..then check see if there is a electric fan in front of the mechanical fan..I know the 2001 has one ,,but im not sure of the 99..You have to look with a flashlight ..Look into the mechanical fan towards the front you should see the blades of the electric fan,,if it has it...The electric fan should come on instantly when you turn on the a/c

Have a 2002 durango and the front fan does not work but rear does

it is possibly the switch, fuse, wires, or fan motor. use a test lite to check for power at the front fan connector with key on and fan switch on high. if you have power, fan is bad. if no power, check fuse, if good, you will need a wiring diagram and a bottle of prozac

My 2001 dodge durango is overheating an leaking coolant from a round plug type thing in the corner on the passenger side near the windshield

What exactly is the "round plug type thing" near the firewall [passenger side]? Is it a sensor of some type? I, too, have a coolant leak here on my 2001 Durango; its tucked in rather tightly near the hood/firewall corner. My electric fan is not kicking on; vehicle overheated tonight. (4.7 liter)

2001durango slt no heat in front

I have a 2001 Black Durango that had the same problem. There is a resister to the right of the ac/heat blower (underneath the dash on passaenger side). This needs to be replaced. You might want to replace the motor as well. Both are real easy. I had replaced the resister first and everthing worked fine for about 6 months and then my ac/heat would only works on high. I replaced the motor and now it works just fine. The resister was about $15 at dealership and the motor is prob around $40-$50. I hopes this helps. Good Luck!

Overheating

Electrical cooling fans not coming on due to bad sensor, fan relay, or bad fans. Check thermostat and coolant temperature, too....accordianman
