Good start, when the engine doesnt start, are all the indicators coming on in the dash cluster and do you have head lights working?

    Let me know.

It may be that the cables are bad on the inside and need to be replaced. remove the battery cables off of the battery and cut the insalation away closeit to the claps. if there is corotion on the wire it self you need to replace the wire

1996gmc jimmy sometimes the heat works and then it dont

Check coolant level first. It may be a clogged heater core. Feel the two hoses coming out of the firewall, both should be hot when up to engine temperature. If one hose is cold, your core is clogged. Unhook both hoses from engine, hook a garden hose in one hose and blow out the clog, pretty messy and gunky.

Spark Plug Gap for 1996 GMC Jimmy

They should be pre-gapped, but you should always check in case someone dropped the box.

We put a new fuel pump in daughters 96 GMC Jimmy SLE and sometimes it just quits running then starts back up after sitting. Is this model fuel injected, could a spider be bad, could it be a vacuum problem,...

It could be a fuel problem but it sounds more like an ignition problem. Check to make sure you have spark after it stalls. If not you have a problem with an ignition component. I it does make sure there is fuel pressure.

1996 gmc jimmy 4.3 v6 hard starting on cold starts runs rough for alittle while and sometimes has a high idle.

You should have your fuel pressure checked the problem is one of two things It is either your fuel pump or your fuel pressure regulator. It goes to high idle because it is starving for fuel.

1996 gmc jimmy won't start. For a couple of weeks when the key was turned on the ''idiot'' lights on the dash wouldn't come on and it would crank but not start. Eventually the ''idiot'' lights would come...

you can load test the battery but as it starts , I would be discounting the battery
dirty /loose terminals , bad ground , faulty ignition switch are all better possibilities

(1997 GMC Jimmy) Battery will randomly go dead

I would check for a draw. You can do this by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery and hooking a test light from the cable to the battery. The light will be on if something is taking power off of the battery such as, dome light, glove box light, radio ect. make sure to have doors shut and everything off when you do this so it wont give you a false reading. If the light is on, you have a draw. if it is off you dont have a draw. Then from there you can figure out where the draw is coming from by opening the drivers door and accessing the fuse panel(OPENING THE DOOR WILL KEEP THE LIGHT ON BECAUSE IT WILL OPEN TH ECIRCUIT FOR THE DOME LIGHT, YOU CAN TAPE OR HOLD THE SWTICH INSIDE THE DOOR JAMB TO CLOSE THE CIRCUIT)when you access the fuse panel you can pull each fuse 1 at a time until the light goes off, when the light goes off. check what the fuse is for, that is where your draw is coming from. Common draws come from a faulty radio or glove box light stays on.
