SOURCE: Rough idle

I took mine in to change the plugs and they said there are four O2 sensors in the fuel mixture system and two were bad. I didn't replace them since they were a little pricey ($500 to replace both) and I have 103,000 on the car. Has very similar roughness and occasional oscillations, but no stalling. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: ROugh idle

there are 2 things that usually cause this, one is a dirty intake idle control valve and the other is hard engine mounts, I would say that both most likely apply to your car. try cleaning the intake with the following procedure from Ford.
Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Rough Idle 2011 Nissan Altima

If you're experiencing a rough idle in your 2011 Nissan Altima, the first thing you should do is diagnose the issue. The Torque app can provide you with some diagnostic codes which can help you narrow down the problem. In your case, two current fault codes and two pending fault codes were recorded. The current fault codes point to a system that is running too lean on Bank 2 and misfiring in multiple cylinders. The pending codes indicate a system that is too lean on Bank 1 and a cylinder 2 misfire.
To start troubleshooting, you should begin by checking the spark plugs and ignition coils. Both of these components are integral to the proper functioning of the engine. If they are faulty, they can cause misfiring and rough idling. You should also inspect the mass air flow sensor, as a faulty one can throw off the air-fuel ratio of the engine.
Finally, if the problem still persists after inspecting the spark plugs, ignition coils, and mass air flow sensor, then you should consider consulting a professional mechanic for further diagnosis. They can provide a more accurate assessment of the issue and recommend the best course of action.

I have a 2009 Nissan Altima. It just started to idle very rough when it's in drive-at low rpm, like when stopped in traffic or at a light. It does not do it when it's in Park, Neutral or Rever

might be the CAM & CRANK SENSORS ! HAVE YOU CHANGED YOU AIR & FUEL FILTERS LATELY ? DO SO IF YOU HAVEN'T. DID YOUR SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT COME ON ? IF SO, GO TO AN AUTOPARTS STORE, HAVE THEM PULL OUT ANY TROUBLE CODES,FROM ECM, IF IT SAYS CAM SENSOR, REPLACE THE CRANK SENSOR AT SAME TIME ! ALSO, THE OXYGEN SENSOR PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE, YOU MIGHT REPLACE IT ASWELL . ALWAYS KEEP FILTERS NEW, OIL CHANGED EVERY 3000 MILES.

My 96 nissan altima dies at idle

Could be a dirty throttle body, vac leak, or a defective idle air control valve. The computer adjusts idle speed by controlling the amount of air entering the throttle body via the control valve.

High Idle

I have a 2001 Nissan Altima and mine did the same thing. We replaced the intake gasket. It costs around $5.50, but it requires several different kinds of tools. We spent over $100 in special sockets, etc. But once you replace that gasket, it will idle better.

1997 Nissan Hardbody has rough idle/surges/stalls

the 2001 altima is what i have and I had the same problem as you. turned out to be a bad head gasket factory used cheap ones for a few years before they found the problem. one way to test this is to get a can of carborator cleaner and spray it around the area where the head meets the block under the intake problem should be around the 4th cylinder or close to driver side. if the head gasket is bad the rough idle will smooth out while you are spraying the head.
