2006 volvo s40 stalls at idle in first gear

You have lots of codes

Have you not used Google to look them up?

I doubt all the codes are failed system issues

I suggest to anyone coming to this site, to use the
services of a repair shop or buy & learn how to use professional
scan tool software,I fail to see how you can diagnose anything
without it

Volvo S40 Trip Computer Problem

Could be a software problem if so it needs to be done by volvo dealership. If someone other than a Volvo dealer attempted it and it went wrong - there's a fair chance you could end up with a non-functioning car and a very large bill to get it working again.

2005 Volvo s40 2.4i stalls when iddling

When an issue such as this occurs, you have a faulty TPS-throttle position sensor, and it needs to be replaced. The replacement is fairly simply, and you may be able to get the part at an auto parts store. The TPS is located on the throttle body.

I have a 2003 S40 with 108,000 miles on it. I was sitting at a red light the other day and all of a sudden the idleing went way down and the car started to spit and sputter like it was going to stall. I...

There could be many reasons, the idle air valve got stuck or is going bad, maybe a little got caught in the injector or maybe a sparkplug was acting up, i wouldnt worry unless its a problem,i know you dont want to get stuck out on the road, but this kind of problem is going to be hard to find unless it happens more often, i think it may be a idle air valve ,this would just make car stall at a light or run a little rough but you would be able to restart and go, hope this helps.

VOLVO S40 SE 2001RPM HIGH

YOU MAY HAVE A IDLE SPEED CONTROL VALVE PROBLEM, CLEAN IT FIRST, THEN DISCONNECT THE BATTERY, FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE I HAVE ATTACHED.

Here is the most common cause of this stall and idle speed issues, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
