turn key on and listen for fuel pump in the tank, it should go on for a few seconds then turn off. if you cant hear it try to listen at the fill cap when someone else turns the key on. if you cant hear it , check the safety shutdown relay under hood, it shuts down fuel pump and ignition

Does a 1991 chevy s-10 blazer have inline fuel pump?

  1. Place wheel chocks behind the passenger side wheels, and lift the driver side of the Blazer with a floor jack. Place jack stands under the frame, and lower the vehicle onto the jack stands. Supporting the truck with the jack stands in this manner prevents injuries that occur if the floor jack fails.
  2. 2 Remove the fuel filler cap, and turn the ignition key to the off position. This relieves some of the fuel pressure on the system, and prevents the fuel pump from starting when the filter is removed.
  3. 3 Locate the fuel filter on the driver side frame rail, just behind the front door. The filter is a cylindrical shaped part, about six inches long, that's in the fuel line on the inside of the frame rail.
  4. 4 Place a drain pan under the filter to catch any fuel that spills. Loosen the filter fittings by using a 21mm wrench to hold the filter while turning the flare-type nut on the line with a 16mm wrench. Remove both sides of the fuel line from the filter and drain it into the drain pan.
  5. 5 Check the rubber O-rings located on the fuel line ends for tears and nicks. Replace any O-ring seal that shows damage. These seals are available at your local auto parts store.
  6. 6 Insert the fuel lines into the ends of the new filter, and thread the flare-nuts into the filter by hand. Be careful not to cross-thread them and cause the need for replacement fuel lines. Tighten both lines with the 21mm and 16mm wrenches.
  7. 7 Raise the truck off the jack stands with the floor jack, and remove the stands from under the vehicle. Lower the Blazer to the ground. Reinstall the fuel filler cap.
  8. 8 Turn the ignition key to the "Run" position--and then back to the off position--three times to prime the new filter. Each time the key is turned to the "Run" position, the on-board computer turns the fuel pump on and opens the injectors to add fuel for starting. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.

This has an electric fuel pump located in the gas tank.

To replace or check it you do one of 2 things. You can drop the tank or cut a hole in the cargo area to gain access as they are on the top of the tank.I would not suggest cutting hole

Check fuel pressure wit a guage at schrader valve on fuel rail with key on and engine not running. The pressure needs to be 55 to 61 PSI. If it is less than 55 PSI, replace the fuel pump in gas tank and fuel filter. If it is more than 61 PSI, replace fuel pressure regulator.

when 1st turning the key to the on position with door or window open, you should be able to hear the fuel pump (in the tank) run for a few seconds (again just key on - don't start or crank engine over) verify that the sound is there before each cold start attempt - if not there and engine won't start - you can try kicking or hitting (rubber mallet) the bottom of the fuel tank ...... what I am getting at is a bad fuel pump - you want to make sure - expensive repair

94 s10 blazer runs great cold but studders at half throtle when warmed up i just did tune up thought it was timing but dont have a light to time it.i didnt have this problem befor tune up just a sluggish...

A few things could cause this: one-if you replaced wires then make sure wires are in right order and if in right order then make sure gap is right on new plugs and/or they are on the right places on distributor cap, two- your right at timing being important but timing would be all the way through, three- the most probable cause is your fuel injection depending on cpi or TPI, I would run a fuel injection cleaner through it for about three tanks or run premium gas for about 5 tanks and that should clear up your problem. Hope this helps....

Part time miss

Sound like you coil is going out. Need to replace the coil and go ahead and do a complete tuneup, plugs, plug wires, distributer cap & rotor button. It will run like new, plus a can of SEAFOAM for the gas tank to clean to fuel system.
