SOURCE: 1999 FORD CROWN VIC. 4.6 - PROBLEM, NOISE

This is caused by the IAC valve. Over time the valve becomes gummy and inoperative. Get it replaced and the problem is solved. IAC stands for idle air control, hence the stalling concern.

SOURCE: engine knock 1999 ford crown vic

Are u using the recommended fuel ? if so try running a couple of cans of fuel injection upper cylinder cleaner through the system with the next few tanks of gas, try LUCAS brand, it is among the best, the next step is to have the engine de-carboned by the dealer, this works very well, you can also remove an octane selection jumper, it retards the timing 2 degrees, that will most times stop the ping.

1992 ford crown vic working fine, next day no power to fuel pump or cut off switch

  1. Hi Domino, The fuel shut off is powered by the fuel pump relay (which is in the engine compartment fuse block) the fuel pump relay is powered by the EEC power relay(PCM relay) you will have to check for distribution and voltage. I hope this helps!
