Start by looking at the place where the wiring goes from body to door in the opening, repair that wire or forever have issues

SOURCE: battery dead can not open hood to boost

The 1999 doesn't have the red connector in the fuse box. That method isn't possible.

But I had the same problem and fixed it. This will sound weird, but trust me, it works.

You need:

1) A paint stir stick.
2) A coat hanger straightened out with one end bent into a small "j" hook.
3) A flashlight.

There is a loop of cable that goes from the engine compartment latch to an area underneath the left rear tail light. Pulling on this cable will open the engine compartment.

To open the engine compartment, you need to:

1) Use the paint stir stick to gently pry up the left rear tail light slightly. Don't pry it up too much and break anything: just pry it up a little so that a small gap opens up between the bottom of the tail light and the car body.

2) Shine the flashlight into the gap and look for a small, thin stainless steel cable. Use the "j" hook end of the coat hanger to pull the cable out from under the tail light.

3) Once the cable has been pulled out enough so that you can grasp it with your fingers, give it a sharp tug. This will pop open the latch to the engine compartment. Now you can jump the battery and start the car.

Good Luck!

If you mean the small lower lip spoiler, remove the screws from the inside edge near wheel (1 small phillips screw each side) then tug spoiler fromone end to release plastic lugs that locate spoiler into front p.u.

SOURCE: 1999 porsche 911 how to open hood with dead battery

The cheapest way to get around this and get enough voltage into the system to open the hood is to purchase a cigarette lighter extension (about 3 feet) and cut off the female plug on the end. Strip the 2 wires back a few inches and attach one to the positive and the other to the negative on a set of jumper cables. Attach the other end of the negative jumper to a battery. With the keyless entry in hand, touch the positive cable to the positive terminal on the battery and press the unlock button until you hear the car doors click. Once it clicks, you should be able to use the hood latch to gain access to the battery.

Why does my horn on 1986 911 Porche keep blowing off & on, on its own when parked or driving?

U have a loose contact on the electric wires, check your fuse box connectors, take a screw driver and tighten them all. If it still do that you have a short on your horn button, just replaced it.

Porsche carrera 4s,windows are both up,battery is disconnected, can't get the trunk open!

Behind the passenger side wheel covers, up towards the front bumper, is a stainless steel braided cable with a loop. Pull this to manually open the trunk. It is well hidden and an emergency solution to opening the trunk if the servo has failed, your fuse box power connection fails, or you have no power. Good luck

I have a 1987 Porsche 911 turbo and when the engine is at temperature the tachometer stops working except at idle. No performance issues noted. Any ideas?

Hello there
In the engine compartment is a multiplug(black) connector. If you can locate on the wireing harness which goes to it, black-purple wire. This end connection could be loose.Unplug the connector and inspect the end of this wire, then spray on wd40.Check all the connection at the gauge as well.
let me know....

On my 1987 porsche 911 repaced the fuse and the break lights still do not work. Is there another switch?

Hello there
Under the break fluid reservoir is the break master cylinder -there are two press.switches with two or (sometimes earlier wersion) three prong switches.
The second switch is the one you propably need to replace.(second-looking from front of the car)
To get to them you need to remove the black cover with 10mm socket wrench and flat screwdriver.
Remove (black plastic) air hose which is on top the master cylinder and then you can see the switches.
Before you replace the switch ,unplug the connector a insert a short wire into it.That will, with the ignition on, make your brake light go on.if yes replace the switch if not

Where can a person get the documintation of how many cars & number of each type built for the 1987 Porsche 911 turbo look. Thank you James

There numerous books on the 911 that have all that information. Go to Barnes and Nobles and look through their titles, if that doesn't help, contact porsche north america public relations dept and they can look up your vin number and tell you how many had the same options.

1999 porshce 911 cigarette lighter

If the fuse is fine, check the hot wire leading to the lighter assembly to make sure you're getting power. If no, you've got a short in the wire from your fuse panel to lighter. If you are getting power to the lighter, take your test light and test the contacts on the inside of the lighter. If no power there, then replace lighter assembly. If you are getting power inside your lighter, it works fine, but the accessory you are plugging into it may be defective.

Windshild wiper for 1987 911

well if the fuse is blown then the circuit is shorted and replacing it will just result in another popped fuse, most likely the motor is the problem from my past experience.
