Yes you should remove the access. This will cause the engine to drown in a sense and have to fight. It is always safe to put in not enough to too much. You onlt have a certain amount of oil that can be placed in the pan before it runs up into your cylinder heads and can break the seal on the gasket. Then you would have to pay to get the cylinder head gasket replaced.

Trans temp high

start by cleaning your radiator cooling fins first and have the core checked, if in order start by replacing all filters, drain the oil ,flush the whole system with approved atf oil, oem, fill ,test transmission , keep hand brake on, engage drive selection then reverse, the switch off and check oil level. if dropped fill up but do not over fill for it can cause heating, drain if needed. once all completed that a drive and test, if still heating up have the torque converter tested. Normally it's either too much oil or too little/oil lost it's viscosity through over heating

How much gear oil does the transfer case on a 1999 jeep grand cherokee

You will need to buy three quarts but you won't use all of it. Make sure that you can open the fill plug BEFORE you drain it to avoid problems. After draining, replace the drain plug and fill with Dexron III or Dex/Mercon (both are automatic trans fluids). Fill on a level surface 'till the fluid reaches the bottom lip of the fill plug. For severe service, I always replace part of the trans fluid with Lucas trans conditioner.

Gasket/O-ring bad on the oil fill cap. The fan is throwing it around where you've found the excess.

Trying to trouble shoot why my performance is lacking or hesitating on my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado? It has had a recent oil change, new plugs, air filter etc. all fluids are normal and I have no...

Change the following:

oil, tranny fluid, and filters: air filter and fuel filter as well. Fill up tank and add 1 can of SeaFoam. Change spark plugs, wires, coil wire if distributor is present - as well as cap and rotor.

If coil packs are present, repalce the plugs and wires, air filter, fuel filter, and have the catalytic converter tested to make sure it's not plugged. This test will also let you know if the O2 sensor(s) are bad or not.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

NOTE: start with the cheaper: air and fuel filter. Then work your way up.
