One problem may be that you are having low oil pressure which will shut down the fuel pump. Connect a fuel pressure guage to the fuel rail to see if you are losing fuel pressure and also check if you haw enough oil pressure
there should be a fuel pressure test port on the fuel rail. you can push the valve with a small pin while some one turn the key on.
if you don't have fuel come out then the pump may be bad
I assume that you do not have a "check engine" light? The next thing I would do is check the pressure from the fuel pump. You can have this done at your preferred garage, or by purchasing a fuel pressure gauge from any parts store. Vent the fuel tank vapors by loosening the fuel cap.Remove the electric fuel pump fuse and start the engine. Allow the engine to run until it runs out of fuel and stalls. After spinning the engine over for a period of 3 to 5 seconds, turn off the ignition switch and install the electric fuel pump fuse.Next, install a fuel pressure gauge in the fuel rail supply line, and secure the fuel tank cap. With the ignition key in the on position, verify that no leaks are present and start the engine.Visually verify the PSI reading on the gauge. The pressure for your vehicle should be 41-47 PSI (Pounds per Square Inch).Hope this helps and good luck!
under the hood on the top of the engine u will find the metal fuel supply rail, on that rail there is a metal valve it looks just like a tire valve, u check the fuel there with a test guage that screws on there at that port, the test guage is cheap and avail at any good parts store.
You need to check to see if the fuel pressure bleeds down, hook up a guage to the fuel rail port, turn key on for a moment then turn it off, the fuel pressure should not drop more than 5 PSI in 24 hours, if it does the fuel pump check valve is defective, this allows the fuel lines to drain down and causes long cranking to start. You will have to replace the pump to fix this problem.
