SOURCE: automatic transmission sounds like it stuck in 3rd gear

You need to check the transmission fluid level, if it is low the tranny will not shift. If, however, the fluid is to the proper level then you will need a new transmission.
Try putting new fluid in and look for a leak in the pan gasket, then all you may need is a transmission service. When the service is done the mechanic will look for pieces of metal in the old fluid, if found this is very bad and you will need a new tranny.
You might consider a new or used car, you can definately find a good deal out there!

SOURCE: emissions test comes up not ready - can't pass inspection

I had a 2001 toyota camry and I couldn't passed the emission test but my friend told me about Xtreme Fuel Treatment and I went back and passed emission. I've also seen improvement in my gas mileage. I brought it at https://creid.gosyntek.com. Test it out and see for yourself

Brake warning lights

Many repair shops can read the ABS codes also - especially shops that specialize in tires and brakes.

The codes will likely identify if a specific wheel sensor is mis-behaving / failing, or a worst-case situation: the ABS Control Module is failing (expensive).

The sensors, located behind each wheel, can be checked for accumulated road 'gunk' and cleaned. Also look for any frayed/broken sensor wires.

NOTE: The sensor sit about .25" away from a gear-type ring on the backside of the wheel - the 'exciter ring'. It's the teeth passing in front of the sensor that creates the signal sent to the ABS control module.
NOTE: The ABS Control Module reads the speed of each wheel and 'pulses' the level of braking to each wheel according to if it thinks it is skidding on ice/wet surfaces.
Problem with the Anti-Lock Brake System. Take it to a professional and I believe it means the Antilock Brake System is disengaged. Means a code has been stored in the abs computer. Standard obd tester cannot check these codes. Take to dealer service shop.

Ive just bought my audi a4 S.E 1.8 petrol 1998.. with 164k...when i bought it the abs lightt was on and also the brake warning indicator light comes on and stays on flashing, and at the same time the abs...

as the mot only says the "brakes work"to a certain efficiency,(the tester does NOT check the depth/thickness of the pads),chances are your pads/discs are in need of replacement.the pads have sensors in them for wear depth, so when checking the pads, front AND rear the abs sensors can be cleaned, and if done by a seat/skoda/vw/audi dealer they can put it on the diagnostic computer to give you a definative answer (this is cheaper than guessing) I replace the pads myself but get the car "diagnosed"when any red light shows.

ABS light stays on when driving

Most of them do. And most people don't bother to fix them. A little piece of black tape will do it. When the light comes on it means your anti lock brake system has failed, and to get it repaired is way more than it is worth, seeing that we drove for years without abs, they do work great though. But seeing your car is getting older, you may not want to bother with it. The call is up to you. I didn't bother with the tape, I went into the dash and pulled out the bulb. Works fine! What abs??? Hope this helps. OH, almost for got, your brakes still work just like normal, only no ABS,, which is the stuttering when slamming on the brakes.

Disabling faulty abs breaks. Will car still pass mot?

If there is only one sensor faulty you should be able to replace that one.If for any reason one abs wheel sensor cannot connect to the abs system reader it stopes working. It means your brakes working just as fine but the Anti Block System is not functioning anymore.Your car will certainly pass the mot without ABS.

Got a 98 honda civic 1.5LS and the abs light is on so it has faild its mot. Will it be expensive to fix and would it be best to take it to a honda dealer

It's cheap to fix.Look for a program called digimotolite and a cable called elm327 on ebay. Will cost you less than £10 and once connected you can erase this fault.Hence your mot passed. Please rate this solution.

Abs sensor light wont go off my 2005 polo

Your ABS systems use a combination of electronic and hydraulic systems to modulate the brakes individually to prevent them from locking up. ANTILOCK systems consist of wheel speed sensors, a hydraulic control unit (HCU), and an electronic control unit (ECU). Because of how complex the system is your computer does a self-test. If the check is successful, the ANTILOCK and BRAKE lights will go out within a few seconds. If one of the component of the ABS system fails to pass one or both lights will remain lit. One or both warning lights may also come on while driving, also indicating a problem. If just the ANTILOCK warning light comes on, some ABS component has failed, but the car still has hydraulic brakes. The grinding noise could the the ABS pump or your brake pads could to worn to the metal backing and grinding against the brake rotors. I recommend a inspection soon for your safety.
