1998 civic aerodeck will not start on some damp morning. Towed away 6 times, garages unable to find a problem since then starts in garage. Big spark on all spark plugs, fuel OK, plugs get very wet wit
Todays stoppage was after is absolutely fine yesterday with very quick start on turning of ignition switch. For each stoppage, Distributor dismantled each time, cleaned, dried though little evidence of damp. Plugs new. Plug leads new. Not believed to be related but even looked at replacing whole distributor but cannot -unknown unmarked Hitachi distributor when it should be a Lucas. I have looked at aerodeck models some years either side of 1998 and cannot match so stuck. Garage had 3 different distributor caps delivered x Alan Pages but not match.

Mileage? Recent servicing? Could be timing chain, ignition module, sparkplug wires, catalytic converter is clogged, fuel pump, injectors, etc. sounds alot like a timing chain at this point, need more info...
I owned the SAME CAR. Love it except when the Distributor went south. You can not tell if the spark is good enough... you can have a Spark on the outside but the compression will require a much stronger spark.
If they put the Distributor in wrong, then you will have an issue.
IF the Timing Belt was moved, then you are going to be fighting this for a while. Best to Start from Scratch with a Good Mechanic and see where it leads you.
If you spray Ether into the Air Box, does the car start? No Start, you have a SPARK ISSUE. STARTS, you have a Fuel Deliver Issue
THE DISTRIBUTOR's are KNOWN to be defective,... Mine was intermittent but when I finally dropped the $225 on a distributor, all of my problems went away.
Did they cross the Spark Plug wires and that is causing your issue? Check the Firing Order.
moisture is getting into the spark plug wires. Take them off, 1 side/plug at a time so you do mix them up. add some silicone into each end of each spark plug wire. u can get the silicone at autozone. it looks like vaseline
