New Motor, Heater not working, Leaking Antifreeze

Hello, Just follow the wire from the heater fan under the hood. Trace the power wire from the heater fan and it will join a connector midway on the Firewall. It will have 2 screws and 1 electric connector. Tap the connector with a screwdriver handle and see if the part starts working again.

If it does not, get a used or new blower resistor. Work on a cold engine and remove the screws and connector from the part. Temporarily plug in the new part to the connector and turn the Key to run with the fan ON. It should be blowing now. Turn off the switch and put the new part where you can reach it with 1 hand.

Undo a heater hose at the top rear of the motor going in front of the opening for the switch. With 1 hand remove the hose end, then switch parts with the new blower resistor with the other hand and slide the heater hose back on its fitting. Tighten the heater hose.

Then secure the new part into the Firewall and fasten its connector. You should have lost little Antifreeze by working on a cold engine as the hydraulic lock kept the fluid from running out.

This should be all you need to do except clean any spills away.

Hello, this part is easy to replace. Just follow the wires from the heater blower and you will find a connector with 2 screws on it. You can unplug the old part and connect the new one before disassembling anymore. Turn your Key to Run and your Heater fan on and it should work with the new part.

The shut off the Key and disconnect the new part. Undo the 2 screws and the part will be ready to remove with 1 exception. The heater hose coming out of the rear top of the engine will not allow you to clear all the electronics on the new part. So you will have to unclamp the hose at the engine and slide the heater hose off.

This works better with a cold engine, as you will not have as much Antifreeze escape than by doing it on a hot or warm motor. Then slide the old part out, new part in, and shove the heater hose back on the engine. Then install the 2 screws holding the new part and the electric connector. Remember to clamp the heater hose again.

That should take care of it.

The heater core can be stopped up or thier might not be enought coolant in the system as it has to be full for the heater to heat. The engine also has to warm up so if the therromstate were opening too much and the engine does'nt warm up the water will be too cold and the heat won't work. Remove the heater hoses at the motor conections and blow them though If they are Ok they'll blow though real easy. The cars cooling system does'nt blow very hard and is stopped up real easy. Blowing though with a garden hose reconnect and refill with antifreeze and your good to go. If it does'nt have enough antifrezze it could be frozen and the ice won't cicculate. If this has happened you may need to put the car in a garage to warm it up drain the light antifreeze coolant and put in good coolant withthe right amount of antifreeze.

Where you pluged in the new heater blower motor see if you have 12 volts at that plug in, also check for any open circuits, if no voltage is present, then check for a bad relay switch or a blown fuse.You can also check the old motor if you plan on putting it in the garbage anyway. If it is burnt out it will smell realy like a bad burnt smell.The other way to check the old motor is to remove the plug connector from the wire leads on old motor touch one lead to a battery post and the other lead to the other battery post, if it starts spinning the the problem was not the old motor but the motor circuit. it maybe a hose not installed correctly, if it is a v-6 check the intake gaskets for signs of leaking, when you over heat the engine, automatically replace the thermostat, the cooling fans may have a hand in the overheating issue, they may not be turning on due fan motor failure, check cooling fan fuses, very rarely does the coolant temp sensor give out and if it has, that would also be the reason the cooling fans are not coming on, a cracked radiator is also common on gm or any other radiator with plastic tanks. good luck

Your heater core has a leak, it's like a small radiator that heats up and the blower motor blows air thru it to create heat in the car. It is leaking anti freeze into the heater box.

your going to have to pull back carpet and clean any liquid up and start your truck and watch for original source of leaks,have you removed the plastic cover of the heat work on the drivers side to see if the heater core is leaking and running over to the drivers side.
