Question about 2008 Pontiac G6 Sedan

"Door Ajar" signal on dash panel stays on even when doors are clo

I have a 2005 Pontiac G6 that when you get in the car and start the car and go to drive, the Door Ajar signal on the dash panel beeps that a door is ajar. All the doors are closed though and also it doesn't lock my locks automatically anymore when I drive like I use to now. When I hit the lock button in the car it locks all the locks but the drivers side. What could be the problem? I also have just experienced the same problem, the door ajar light came on even though the doors were all shut, opened and closed all to be sure someone didnt fully close one of the doors. The interior light comes on as well, after opening and closing the door the light initially goes out only to come back on again, after repeated atempts to keep it off I was forced to turn the dome light off manually. The car is a 2008 model, only 9 months old, I'm a bit disapointed to have trouble this early. Back to the dealership I go..

Thanks for the help Chris, you were correct, it was a broken door latch on the front passenger side, thankfully it won't cost me anything because it's still under warranty. I did a lot of reseach and this seems to be a common problem for the 2005 g6. Sadly GM haven't learned thier lesson and are still using inferior parts on thier cars, tisk tisk.. I'm not one bit sad the big 3 are nearing bankruptcy, if they built quality cars at an affordable price they wouldn't be in this mess.

There should be a switch mounted( or more than one) in the door jamb that tells the car when the car door is open...i will probably look like a little plastic plunger...might be broken off or bad internally

How to diagnose which door is causing the door ajar warning on dic for 08 pontiac g6 4cyl 4dr

It should tell you which one .
Driver Door Ajar Malfunction
Passenger Door Ajar Malfunction
If not a scan tool would be the best way.
Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Driver Door Ajar Sw parameter while opening and closing the driver door. The parameter should change between Door Closed and Door Ajar
? If the parameter does not change, refer to Driver Door Ajar Malfunction.
With the passenger doors closed, observe the scan tool Door Ajar Switch parameter while opening and closing each door. The parameter should change between Door Closed and Door Ajar.
? If the parameter does not change, refer to Passenger Door Ajar Malfunction

Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver door latch.
Test for less than 5 ohms between the ground circuit terminal 8 and ground.
? If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Driver Door Ajar Sw parameter is Door Closed.
? If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 6 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 6 and the ground circuit terminal 8. Verify the scan tool Driver Door Ajar Sw parameter is Door Ajar.
? If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
If all circuits test normal, test or replace the driver door latch

2005 jeep wrangler when i turn lights on beeping starts

did you RTM read the operators guide yet,
it tells you why all beeps beep and what lamps flash, (warning) and why. did you?
you turn on, the head lights, (what about 1st click , parking lights"?)
and does the dash cluster, show warnings of any kind?

if a door is ajar the system will think, you are exiting veh. with lights on and tell you, buy beeping ,etc.
but on my jeep it says on the dash DOOR, or on EVICs, (not yours)
the newer car even tells what door IS AJAR.
mine on shows , "DOOR"
the operator guide will say, check all doors for ajar, and get warning clear before driving....etc.

if you lost the guide here it is for free

http://justgivemethedamnmanual.com/jeep/jeep-wrangler-owners-manuals/

click the 05 link
ignore beeps, there are just too many .. i look at the cluster and learn to read it..
my newer jeep 08 can produce 1000s of errors,,,,, possible.
in fact the intent it to beep to tell the driver to look at the cluster
for in depth, causes.
see chapter starting on page 136'

once sound it makes is Check gauges chime. so check them.
and headlamps left on
and door ajar.

page 63
NOTE: If the driver's door is left open, and the headlights
or parking lights are left on, the "High Beam
Indicator Light" will flash and a chime will sound.
Lights-On Reminder
If the headlights or parking lights are on after the ignition
is turned off, a chime will sound when the driver's door

its a crude system, and evolved to complex in 2007.
"DOOR" or RF-door , on mine.
or

NOTE: A tone will chime if the turn signals are left on
for more than 1 mile (2 km).

Brake light and turn signal will not work on a 2005 pontiac g6- replaced the bulbs, are there fuses or something else?

Usually they are under the dash or on the side of the dash by the drivers door. There should be a diagram that shows which fuse works the tail lights. Use the puller provided, pull the fuse out and check to make sure that the interior wire is broken. If it is replace the fuse. If it is not have a mechanic look at it for a short

Beeps while driving

My van did this aswell, you must have a power sliding door, when it is not latched properly this warning goes off but it won't say on your message center "door ajar". Stop and reopen the door and close it again no more bell. good luck.

"Door Ajar" signal on dash panel stays on even when doors are clo

Update: Just got back from the dealer, official diagnosis: Broken door latch. Luckily where my g6 isn't quite a year old it's still covered under warranty but this issue appears to be a widespread problem, enough so to justify a recall. It just goes to show you why the big 3 automakers are begging for bailout money right now, shabby quality over the years combined with increased prices. Greed is a terrible thing, customers are getting fed up and it's comming back to haunt them....
