Starting problem Son's truck is VERY hard to start especially if it has sat for several hours and sometimes needs starting fluid help. We have cleaned throttle body, done tune up, oil change, replaced fuel filter. What else can it be? Can't really afford to take it somewhere or keep fixing the wrong things.

Do a compression check (motor hot Accelerator fully depressed) If you need starter fluid to start it indicates worn motor.

SOURCE: hard starts in the morning even though replaced most parts

Check the power to the cold start injector. (it's only going to have fire for a few sec. after the key is turned on). If the fire is good, replace the cold start injector. This injector is activated for a few seconds when the engen temp is low to add a little fuel lower down in the intake and closer to the pistons.

SOURCE: MY 2004 ENVOY HAS 84600 MILES HAVE DONE OIL

When starting your vehicle, cycle the key twice to pump up the fuel pressure. If the vehicle starts like normal, I would replace the fuel filter. Has the fuel filter ever been replaced??? I posted as a solution, but there is no option on this question to get more info.

My 2000 expedition start but wont turn over sometime unless i spray starting fluid in it then it comes right on

Turning over the engine, is not the same
thing as a no start condition

Won't turn over, means the starting system
is dead

Do you have the correct fuel pressure at the fuel rail
with a pressure gauge or on scan tool data, when the
key is turned on & also when running

About 42 lbs pressure

I would suspect you have issues other then fuel
& the spraying is just a coincidence

I think only scan tool or oscilloscope data on
several sensors, will be needed to see what's
missing on start up

You need to find out what the error code is - Service engine soon means an error code was generated.

With the problem you discribed, it sounds like a coil problem. If a crack has developed in the casing, the crack size changes with temperature changes. Also make sure that the wires are in good shape.

95 geo tracker starts great when really cold, but hard starting when warm. You have to floor accelerator to get it started.

When was last tune up? Plugs, wires all fluids & filters - especially fuel filter??? I'd start there and run a good fuel system cleaner through it.

Has spark but wont start even when i use starting fluid

I'm not sure of the vehicle type or model due to your question, but the fact you mentioned spark I can only assume its a gas powered engine. I would highly recommend you not use any type of STARTING FLUID to aid in starting. Starting fluid should only be used for diesels, and I mean large industrial size motors when cold only. Any type of starting fluid used on a gas engines or domestic sized trucks can severely damage the engine especially when it won't help at all with the issue it won't start. Need more info of vehicle to help.

Is the fuel filter ok? - fuel pump ok? Sometimes a new fuel pump is faulty. You may need to check your fuel pressure. Could even be a plugged fuel return line. PS be careful using starter fluid - it can be hard on an engine. Le t m e know. Thanks

1999 Saturn SL1 trouble starting when warm

It was the coolant temperature sensor. It was telling the car that the coolant was always cold, therefore when starting a warm engine it was being flooded. $$$
