On my 2003 cavilier the drivers window will go down very slow but when i put it up it only moves about an inch at a time and then its about another 3 minutes befor it moves again
That would most definitely be your power window motor. the motor iself is worn out. if you remove the door panel you will see whats called the window regulator (holds the window in the tracks). you might be able to replace just the window motor but sometimes you have to replace the whole regulator assembly. it depends on the vehicle.

First open your drivers door. Now while holding the switch to go up or down....wiggle the wire harness between the door and the truck. Try this while moving the door from slightly closed to fully open. Try slightly wiggling some under the dash if thats not it. There sometimes are wires under the carpet for the windows....push down on a few spots while holding your switch also. Hope this helps to locate the problem
I am guessing you have power windows. Happens to mine sometimes. Slam the door a couple to few times, see if that doesn't put the window back on "track". I mentioned this to the dealership a while back and they were going to charge about $90 to pop off the interior part of the door and put it back on track. They said it "builds up dirt". I actually also toggle the window switch a few times to see if it will move slightly and then do my door slam thing a couple to few times. I seem to get this problem when it rains. I hope it helps.
sounds like the window is off the track. i would have a glazier look at it, or you can take the door panel off and check the guides to see if they are worn or not.
Tom,
See this alot. Sorry,It appears that is a symptom of a bad motor. If it moves an inch or so,then nothing, after a few minutes another inch or so,it's motor time!
I would be very suspicious of the drivers master swich. If the window works fine on the other side it's an easy assumption that the window motor and regulator are operative. The switches are usually fairly inexpensive (less then 100.00 ) and easy to install
