Follow the manual and do it every 60K miles. Even after that the new one is made of the same reinforced plastic so it has to be changed at 120K miles. At those same intervals Hyundai calls for a heavy check which adds another $250-300 to the tab. I got the belt changed for about $550. Almost every other interval check can be accomplished by a reputable mechanic or shop. The heavy checks and belt replacement should be done by Hyundai or your warranty may not be honored.

The recommended mileage is 60,000, this comes from the Gates belt catalog.

Hi....
On your 2004 Santa Fe.
The water pump is not driven by the Timing belt.
Is not stricttly nessesary to replace togheter. they are individual.
But I recomend replace the timing belt when you replace the water pump. Because for get axces to the water pump,
you need to remove all the Timing covers.
Is just a few more minutes to remove the Timing belt.
Inspect the Engine seals, cam and crank Replace if need.
My PC show me a 2.4L 4cyl. for 2004 santa fe.

Ok.. The labor for that job Removing the Timing belt and water Pump ...IS:
2.8 hours. just the water pump 2.4 hours.

OK.. I hope this help on your question...

SOURCE: how to replace timing belt in 2001 santa fe. What

I have a 2.7L v6 in my 2001 Santa Fe. It took approximately 3 hours to change the belt. One of the things you will have to do if you have the v6 is to support the engine and take off the passenger side motor mount to change the belt. Make sure you get the timing marks aligned because this is a zero tolerance engine. If you don't or if the belt breaks while the engine is running you will damage pistons and valves.

SOURCE: DO i NEED TO CHANGE TIMING BELT ON 2005 sANTA FE AT 60,000?

Do you want to replace the Go to belt yourself? Go to http://www.hmaservice.com/ and register (vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you'll have access to technical information (manuals, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, etc) about your vehicle.

SOURCE: 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.7 all wheel. Crank sensor

Hi

On the 2.7 engine it is located beside the starter. You will have to remove the starters heat shield to gain excess to the crank sensor.

I have a 2005 Santa Fe with 69,000 miles on it. I am going to drive it another 3,ooo without changing the timingbelt. Should I be worried?

CAUTION: If your Santa Fe has the 4 cylinder engine (2.4 Lit I4), that's DEFINITLY a risk. Get the belt inspected! The 2.4 lit 4 cylinder is notorious for belt failure (even before 60,000 miles due to the heat generated by the engine in the timing belt area. There is also a balance belt accompanying the timing belt on the 2.4 lit -- it is also prone, but not like the timing belt).

If it's the 2.7 or the 3.5 Lit V6, I still recommend you have the belt inspected by a competent technician.

I have a 2004 Santa Fe with 39000 miles when can I aspect the driving or timing belt to go out

The timing belts must be replaced every 5 years or 50k miles, whatever comes first. The other belts whenever they give signs of slipping, no fixed date.
