I have the alternator completely loose. I can't get the pivot bolt out because it hits the wheel sidewall. What do I do?
Take the front mount off the front of the motor jack up or let down futher
Still not enough clarance
im having the exact same problem, i took the passenger side engine mount off, and the one in the front of the car off, and tried going up all the way and down all the way and it STILL isnt enough room, going up i have the bolt out about 4 or 5 inches but im still like 3 mm too short from getting it out all the way, and the engine wont move anymore, i really dont want to take the last mount off bc im afraid i wont be able to line them all up again once i put it together, but i have no clue what to do
Did you ever figure this out flyer? I run into the same problem...
01 Sentra SE 2.0L. There are 4 bolts that hold 2 mounting brackets. One bracket bellow the pulley on the alternator attached to the pivot bolt and the other bracket is for the pivot pin, one bolt above, and three bellow. You have to remove the AC Compressor without detaching the refrigerant lines, 4 bolts only. The whole alternator and brackets come out. Reassemble the brackets on the new alternator and remount to the engine.
