I would hope for the switch, if your computer was going haywire you would have a whole lot of other problems because there are usually 10-15 items on a single circuit. It is very rare for one to just blip. The switch may be $30 tops at your local dealer, I just checked both part sites I use, and neither have them. Hope that helps

Check the light switch if it's off position for dome light. Or check your door switch if is making contact with door panel. If all of this are good. You have an bad door switch.

My car alarm keeps going off, I made sure all the doors are shut properly and all the windows are closed. What else can I do to make it stop? '99 ford escort

Depends. If it is an aftermarket alarm that didn't come with the car those are easily removed by undoing the wiring for the alarm box usually underneath the steering column. If you're not comfortable with wiring issues, a local shop should be able to do it for around 70 dollars, one hour labor. Factory alarms are different. There are door switches that regularly go bad for your car that can usually be determined if when all your doors are closed the dome light stays on or comes on. There should also be an indicator on the instrument cluster. Usually it's the driver's door(most used) that goes bad. If this malfunctions while the vehicle alarm has been set the antitheft system will think someone opened the door without unlocking it. Replacing these switches usually require removal of the door latch on the inside of the door panel. Sometimes spraying lubricant through the keyhole will help these switches work... for a while. And if all else fails, you can always unplug the horn... Good luck!

Car alarm start on his own,all doors are close, trunk as well.some time even the interior light came on in his own.what is the problem.

You probably have a bad switch on one of the doors that is triggering the alarm as well as the dome light. Close the car up. Walk around and jiggle each door until the dome light comes on or the alarm trips. Some cars have switches on the hood too. When you isolate the door (or the trunk or hood) that is the problem, replace the switch for that door. The switch is located on the frame of the car. You should be able to find it with the door open.

96 camero wont crank alarm ingaged

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. The antitheft system in your car is controlled by a computer. Scanning the computer will give you some idea of what has failed. It is an integral part of your car and cannot be disconnected. If your alarm goes off constantly or does not armed by it:

Does the alarm arm and disarm properly? If it does proceed, if it doesn't, then have it checked by your installer.

1. Check and make sure your dome light is not staying on. If it is make sure all doors are closed and/or the dome light switch is not turned on.
2. Check your sensor. Make sure they are not too sensitive. They can cause false alarm and also cause the system not to arm by itself.
3. The alarm current sensing might be detecting voltage drop from the battery of the car or current draw from equipment (maybe left on).

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Dome lights won't turn off

Been having a problem with the dome lights on a 99 chevy blazer. Still can't figure out what the problem is. There is a dome light overide button located under the dimmer wheel. When I push the overide button in the dome light goes off, but when I open any of the doors the dome light will not come on. When the overide button is out the dome light stays on all the time and will not turn off even though every door is closed. I checked all the pushbuttons and everything tests good. Has anyone had this problem and know how to fix it?

Locks, Map Light(s) and alarm not working!

it sounds like you are having a problem with the ecm which is the electronic control module which is the BRAIN of your entire car. Also when this happens everything goes haywire as if the car is acting retarded because the ecm is not receiving the proper codes on how to perform and remember the ecm is a computer that could have corrosion or rust on the connection points. check this ok that might help.

My trucks computer tells me there's a door ajar

check each door jamb button (can't think of the correct term). close all doors except one... push the button manually... does the interior light go off... if it does move on to the next door. that will narrow down where the problem is... or it should. it also could be the relay for the interior lights located on the fuse panel under the dash.
