My 97 crown victoria died suddenly while driving down the road and won't restart

I have a audio system installed that was turned up loud at the time, so i'm beginning the troubleshooting process by assuming that my stereo system blew a fuse or shorted something out... Other than a regular fuse, what else could my stereo have blown/shorted out? Note that the audio system never stopped working, even after the car stalled...

Is the fuel pump coming on? Turn the key to on position and listen by gas tank for a humming noise for fuel pump. Check the accident fuel shut off switch in the trunk, it should be on driver side in trunk, behind carpet- pad. if the button is up. Push it down to reset.

SOURCE: 2003 Ford Crown Victoria misfires when

I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON SEVERAL CROWN VICS I HAVE WORKED ON ,& SOME OF THEM A SET OF PLUGS STOPPED IT,AND SOME OF THEM HAD TO HAVE 1 OR MORE COIL PACKS REPLACED, BUT THE PROBLEM THAT I FOUND THAT IF PLUGS & ALL COIL PACKS HAD BEEN REPLACED,AND IT WAS STILL IN THE IGNITION, IS THE WIRES GOING INTO THE PLUG ON THE COILPACK UNDER THE INTAKE TUBE, IF YOU REMOVE THE INTAKE TUBE,LOOK CLOSE AT THE WIRES FOR ANY BARE SPOTS,& LOOK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE INTAKR TUBE IF YOU CAN SEE WHERE IT HAS RUBBED IT,IT IS ALMOST A GIVEN THERE IS A BARE SPOT OR CRACKED INSOLATION ON THE WIRE, ENOUGH TO CAUSE A MISFIRE, (FYI) IT TOOK ME MANY TIMES OF INSPECTING BEFORE I LOOKED CLOSE ENOUGH TO SEE THE BARE SPOTS, BUT ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS STRIP THE HARD PLASTIC AROUND THE WIRES BACK ENOUGH TILL YOU SEE GOOD CLEAN LOOKING WIRE,THEN SEPERATE THE WIRES AND IF YOU HAVE LIQUID ELECTICAL TAPE USE THAT AND THEN TAPE THEM WITH ROLL ELECTRICAL TAPE ,BUT IF YOU TAPE THEM UP GOOD SO WHEN THE WIRE IS BENT ENOUGH FOR THE INTAKE TUBE TO CLEAR ,& YOU CANNOT SEE THE WIRES GOING IN TO THE PLUG WITH A ROLL OF ELECTRICAL TAPE THAT WILL WORK TOO, I HOPE THIS TRICK WILL WORK AS GOOD FOR YOU AS HAS ME ON DOZENS OF CROWN VICS, ESPECIALLY P71 POLICE CARS.

97 crown vic While driving it's like someone is pushing the brakes every few seconds. what would cause this?

A bent rotor or a stuck piston in ur caliper either from dirt in caliper or a bad your brake hose. Thats what I'd say were the most likely causes and if you don't feel a wobble I'd say the caliper on one of your wheels. chk ur pads if 1 set is worn a lot more than the others or an excessive amount of brake dust on 1 rim that could be your culprit. Hope that helps.

The engine runs smooth then all of the sudden will die for no apparent reason. Usually will restart run smooth and then die again.

I have seen this problem caused by a bad distributor cap and rotor. If that isn't it then I would suspect the computer.

Trying to install a subwoofer on a 97 crown vic

Make sure you are using a 12volt DC system in both units. It may sound simply but an AC sub may need an inverter. Also check grounds.
