Water Leaking into the trunk

I have had the car for a little over a year and since that time I have noticed a small amount of water in my trunk after it rains. I believe that the weatherstrip around the trunk needs replaced but I think it may not be just the seal. My interior also has a leak behind the drivers side. My driver side seat belt occassionally feels damp when the moisture outside is high. Any suggestions?

It could be. I ran the car into a ditch a year ago but the leak was there before that.

I had the same problem....I was told the rear window drainage holes were clogged. They cleaned them and now the slushing of the water is gone and so is the dampness.

I JUST noticed this today happening to my trunk as well! It is upsetting because I lost a lot of doodles and now, while in the middle of a move to a state 12 hours away, I've got to cross my fingers that my most valuable items (diploma, marriage license, W2s, etc boring things) are not mushing away at this moment. It sucks having this car when it comes to moving on a whim. I've packed only one of everything and that was pushing it. Ha!

My trunk seems to have sprang a leak. I've been researching it and it's a common problem but I can't find a solution to it other completely changing the trunk...anybody know where this leak is?

WHOA...Who told you to "change the trunk"???? Unless you have been in an accident, that sounds a pretty drastic maneuver.
Here's what I would do:
1. Get one of your GOOD friends to help with this
2. Get into the trunk with a flashlight and some paper towels
3. SHUT THE LID (This is where the good friend comes in)
4. Have you buddy run a water hose along the edges of the trunk and you should be able to see where the water is coming in.
5. Check around any thing that is drilled into the fender, like the antennae, etc...
6. If the leak is small (this is where the paper towel comes in), run the paper towel along the trunk gasket to see if you are picking up any small amounts of water leaking in.
7. Be nice to your GOOD friend as he is your "key" to getting out of the trunk.

I'd bet there is a trunk gasket that needs to be sealed up in some place(s). Clear automotive silicon sealer is available at your local Auto Parts Store.
GOOD LUCK . . .

Water in the trunk of my 2002 intrepid

If you notice it after it rains, it could be a poorly sealing gasket for the trunk lid, or a leaking tail light.

Water leaking into the back passenger floorboard of Plymouth 1998 Neon

I had the exact same problem with my 1995 neon. It was leaking around the tail light. I pulled the tail lights off and put a heavy coat of RTV silicone on the gasket, and 2 years later never happened again

My 97 neon sport is leaking water from the muffler...what could be causing this?

This is normal and nothing to worry about, a car that is putting out small amounts of water is a good running car, the muffler has a drain hole in the backside to allow moisture to leak out so muffler does not rust out over time from held is water, if you are seeing a small amount of water dripping out it is nothing, this is normal. good day.

I have a 2001 saturn wagon, Coolant leak where the alternator is!

What may assist in your diagnostic is a system pressure tester. This has a hand pump to where you can pressure up the system to 12 to 17 lbs and this really helps bring on hard to find leaks. You may be overlooking coolant leaking from the "weep hole" in the bottom of the water pump or a place that might become much more obvious inspecting this system under pressure. The tester also helps diagnostic by noticing if the system holds pressure for a sustained amount of time.A small leak will drop your 12 psi in a matter of a few minutes and you will continually need to pump a few more times to keep that pressure which further indicates the system is leaking down.

Water In Trunk

If it is rusted out yes. find a friend that is NOT claustraphobic and have him get in the trunk and close it. oh and he will need a flashlight. also becareful when you close the trunk that he is not near any of the hinges when you close it. I was the one to get into the trunk one time and the person slammed it down and i nearly was struck with one of then hinges use a hose and spray a small amount of water along the opening of the trunk.... have your friend keep and eye on the weatherstriping around the areas you are spraying. if it's leaking that way you will located it quickly.... now let your friend out of the truck.
If you can't find anyone to get in the trunk while you test it.... just by a replacement weatherstripping.

Kind of back yard mechanic way to do it but it's effective.

Trunk leaking

I'm not sure how you know the weatherstrip isn't leaking, here's what i would do.With a trusted helper, get in the trunk and latch it.Have the helper spray the entire trunk area with a garden hose while you watch for any water leaks. That's the best way to check the weatherstrip for leaks, and it is likely that's where the leak is coming from.
