I have a 2000 Chevy Venture van and the heat when turned on blows cold. For a while it was still blowing out warm air thru the back vents but now it is all cold. The van wouldn't warm up at all either. It remains completely buried on cold no matter how long i have been driving. Now the van is over heating but only when moving, not while sitting still and idling? What is going on??

Needs the water system back flushing out, heater being cold is its blocked up some time a few back flushes and forward flushes with a hose pipe should free up the dirt inside, same with the engine and radiator. there are meany videos on you tube to help you understand how to back flush you engie. but do the radiator and engine and heater separate so the muck does not go back into the engine.

There is a flap in your heater box that is controled by your vent switch by your heater controls. listen for a vacuum leak. that is common and hopfully the problem. there is vacuum lines that control the vent door that redirects the air to your vents.

Has your dash been messed with recently? if so i would check there first. you should hear a hissing if thats the problem.

Otherwise these also are common for that door flap to break and not switch NE more. thats the only 2 things that i can think of off th wtop of my head to be the problem. this would require the whole dash to come apart if its this problem

First check and make sure you have enough coolant. If so your thermostat needs to be replaced it is stuck open. you can find online repair manuals at autozone.com for free.

SOURCE: The 2 drive side vents

You have a blend door under the dash that is no closing and opening. This will require you to look under the dash and inspect the blend doors and actuators. It is not an easy job with most vehicles..

Check heater tap is operating remove heater hoses and back flush the heater core to check flow, check thermostat.

My heater does not blow in floor in a dodgeram 1500

the heater vacuum motor and lines needs to be checked.Also get the blend door checked.

I have a chevy venture 1998. I put freon 134a in the low valve near the radiator in the front of the van. It blows cold air in the back of the van but not in the front. Is there another valve to put freon...

No ,there is not another valve . One low side service port an one high side service port . An only one A/C compressor . Under the hood in the engine compartment there are A/C lines going into the firewall . These go to the front Evaparator unit . With the vehicle running an A/C on do this line's (pipes) get cold ? If yes , your problem is probably the temp. actuator . Control's how hot or cold the air coming from the vent's get . If stuck half way , hot an cold air combine to make warm air . Replacing some of these actuators can require the dash to be removed . Your best bet ,take it to a qualified repair shop .

2000 chevy astro cargo van. the heat registers on the gage but little comes out and only out defrost. thermostat????

If it is blowing hot air out of the defroster and not out of the heater vents then the door that directs the heat from the defroster isn't working properly it is blocking the heat from going to the heater vents. Also check the cold air door. It sounds like it isn't closing all the way to shut off the cold air and not letting the hot air pass.

Reduced air flow in a 2003 venture when selected to vent

open glove box and open door in the back ,remove air filter and clean,then re install,and make sure to close the door tightly.
