2001 Chevrolet K1500 5.3 engine has a jingling noise around fan

This truck has 128,000 miles. Never replaced water pump. No water leaking. The sound is a jingling noise around the fan area. It speeds up as I accelerate. Sound like it's coming from somewhere in the belt system around the fan area. Maybe the belt tensionizer. Thanks, Steve

It could be the tensioner .or it could water pump.you almost have to take off belt and spin by hand the individual pulleys. also wile fan is still on and truck is off take the fan see if it moves back and fourth front to back it should have no play in it .because it is attached to the water pump shaft.

There's a sound like a bad bearing coming from the water pump but no water coming out of the weep hole. i'm guessing the pump is bad. is this common for this car?

Bearings on a water pump failing on any car is a common problem! The water leaking from around the water pump area is the tell tale sign.........get it checked out and replaced as soon as possible to avoid further damage to the engine.

Noisy engine

some noises in the engine come from water pump bearing failure. idler pulley bearing failure. If you have a viscous fan hud that can give a noise. Also check that the harmonic balancer isn't coming apart and slipping

I have 2002 chevrolet tahoe with 150000 miles that just started pushing out a quart of water every 3 days. just replaced thermostat and have had radiator flushed every 30000 miles . is the problem water...

Try to locate the source of the water loss. If it seems like it is leaking from the front in the center of the engine, then look under the water pump and see if it is coming from the weep hole. If it is coming from that hole the water pump has failed and needs to be replaced. The best time to check it is with the engine hot and sometimes it needs to be running depending on how bad the leak is. If it seems like it is coming from the front of the engine but near the sides check to see if you have a split hose.

How can i tell if my water pump is bad?

most of the time when a pump goes bad in starts to leak after you shut off the engine. May not be much and it may or may not leak enough to see it on the ground. Look around the water pump and see if you can see any wet spots and look at the water pump it self and it has weep holes one on the bottom and top see if you see any leakage from there if so the pump is bad
