2007 Hyundai Sonata - Trunk is very hard to open

The trunk on my 07 Sonata is very hard to open. Is there any way to adjust the hydraulic struts or is there another solution? My friend has a 08 Sonata and she is having the same problem.

The trunk is very difficult to open. It will quite often click shut before I can open it all the way to get my parcels inside. I was told no one else had complained about the trunk. Glad I'm not the only one.

Is it stuck or just feel very heavy? If it is just feeling very heavy than the trunk struts need replacing. Your local part store might be helpful and install them for you if you purchase them there. If it feels like it is getting stuck on something the latch might need a little adjusting on the ring part. If this is the case then to adjust you usually loosen so it can move with little force but not too loose and open and shut trunk a few times and open one more time slowly and then tighten bolts being careful not to move latch. Hope this helps.

Hello, having same issue. Trunk heavy to open and replaced the struts but issue persists. Could it be mechanism blow?

If u replaced the struts and it's still 'heavy' then there are other issues such as not aligned properly or maybe just a simple solution as spraying a little wd-40 on all the moving parts and hinges that are attached to the deck lid. Hope this helps

Chuck, keep in mind these struts are not designed to open the trunk lid, merely to keep it from closing. It is a design issue. We (or they) are looking for a solution that may involve getting aftermarket hydraulics to open the lid rather than simply keep it open. I personally own the car and find it inconvenient. If i happen to get a solution, wonderful, but some need it to "self open".

I locked my keys in the trunk of my 2016 Hyundai Sonata. Unable to access trunk via rear seats Can't find any manual release mechanism from within the cab. Roadside assistance says order new keys

On the internet it said the Hyundai Dealer can make you a cheap key for only the trunk, which is cheaper than the regular key if you provide VIN information and proof that you own the vehicle.

If you have another key, or already ordered and received a replacement key, you might still have problem opening trunk, and another person said "Easy way is to press the unlock button on the driver's door. Then the trunk release will work."

What could be the problem on my 03 hyundai sonata if my automatic trunk opener doesnt work.

I had this problem for awhile too, one day the automatic opener just quit working. My friend fixed it for me. Turns out there's a little lever mechanism on the trunk door, right by the license plate where the locking mechanism is (look up when the trunk is open)... try flipping it and see if the opener will work then. It fixed my problem at least.

Trunk struts need adjusting 2007 Sonata

Not if they are gas charged struts, but could be replaced. Take both struts off at one end and see if that was the problem with difficulty raising the trunk lid.
