Drove 2004 denali to drop kids off (Raining) no sudden stops or sharp turns. the stability system light and (TC) traction contol lights comes on So, I shut off the vehicle for 10-15 min. then I restarted the engine. The TC goes off but the service engine light stayed on but the engine power returned to normal. This is the 3rd time this has happened even when not raining. What is the stability system. A chip?
The stability system is software programmed into the ABS - antilock brake control module also the PCM - engine computer . service engine light DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored . Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop or the dealer . You don't have the diagnostic equipment or knowledge to tackle this type of problem .
Good morning! Not a comment but an additional question. My 2004 Yukon Denali has that message Stability System Disabled and all the gauges went to as if the vehicle was off. All interior lights came on, could not get them to go off. Vehicle seemed possessed ???? Had just drove home from work and was perfectly fine.

all wheel drive and stability control are a lot alike, in fact you are better off with all wheel drive.
These vehicles have all four wheel speed sensors and the braking system keeps the speed of all four as close to the same as possible to control slippage.
Power is decreased to any wheel that is moving faster than the others so optimum traction is obtained. and this may cause this problem.

Hello tdamm...No...the service engine soon (SES) light on your yukon is not telling you to change the oil.
This is a warning light that is illuminated when there is a problem affecting the Emission system and the engines computer management (ECM) has detected it from a fault. It could be something as simple as a loose or defective gas cap. If the SES light is blinking, it's more serious....
The yukon needs to be connected to diagnostic equipment (scanner) for fault diagnosis.
You can go to autozone they will hook up an OBD II scanner to your vehicle and explain the codes to you.
Good luck...i hope this helps and will fixya up.

There is no p01001, it's either p0100, or p0101.
Anyway, it's the mass air flow sensor that's bad. The p0171 and p0174 is a lean condition on bank 1 and bank 2, which are the oxygen sensors. Change the mass air flow sensor and that should take care of the p0171 and 74 codes.
The mass air flow sensor can cause the 02 sensors to read lean.
The u1301, is a class 2 circuit short to battery. That, you have to test wires to find with a voltmeter/continuity tester.
I would try and find that short before changing the flow sensor, you don't need the new one shorting out, they are not that cheap.
