No restart 1993 f250 2 wheel drive 300 6cl. standard trans. will run fine then when you shut it off and go to restart it after a short time it sometimes wont start till you wait a wile could be 15min. or 60 min. Or if you spray starting fluid into it then it will start. every time this happins at home we go hook up the fuel presure gauge and it starts so we can never get it to stay acting up long enough to check a few things. at first we thought spark because we had fuel at the rail but have replaced coil, pick up coil, control modgual, plugs and cap and rotor and plug wires. then just for fun i sprayed starter fluid and it started up fine. so now what? thanks, al

You have tried a new fuel filter right? Do you hook up fuel pressure gauge and only turn key to on (not start) position, and take reading then?

Pull a couple of spark plugs when this happens & see if there wet, as in fuel. Maybe injector leakage, causing flooding condition. When engine cold, it won't occur due to added fuel needed for cold start.

Fuel pump is weak. loosing prime. either your fuel filter is plugged up or fuel pump relay is getting hot and won't let your fuel pump work. replace the filter first

I don't know. But I do know that any well run auto parts yard has interchange books for exactly this kind of question. Basically, any standard transmission can be made to work if you are willing to spend enough time and money. It is usually best and cheapest to stay with the factory trans.

V6 engine idles rough after restarting, then smooths out

My first guess would be a dirty carb/fuel injector set. Run some fuel cleaner through the tank and see if it gets better. You might have to do it through a couple of tanksful. How long since you've had a tune-up? It might just be that time.
