Most ring gears are only shrunk fitted on the fly wheels. REmoval is by simply driving a good cold chisel in between the teeth and cracking the ring . Replacement is by heating the ringear evenly and placing onto the flywheel and letting it cool down. Ensure that any timing marks on the ring gear are in exactly the same place as the one removed. THis heating process may not work if there are sensors in the ring gear for cpu operation Check with service dealer for further info.

Peugeot 307 I'm having trouble selecting gears when it does finally theirs arealy bad rattle/clanking coming from the engine is this an easy fix or will need a new gear box can any one help ??

Sounds like the dual mass flywheel has failed. They are not cheap and will need a garage or competent DIY mechanic to remove the trans and change it. To have a garage do it you are looking at 5 to 600 GBP

Ive got a very bad judder when setting of in first gear, it is ok in all other gears and reverse

Hi David, it could be a number of things depending on what sort of car it is. Possibilities are a worn clutch centre plate and or flywheel/pressure plate or a worn dual mass flywheel (if it has one) Either way the only way to positively diagnose the fault will be to remove the gearbox and inspect it. Hope that helps, Ian

NO,when the dual mass flywheel goes you will feel it.starter motor jamming is normally down to worn teeth/release spring.

no, it shouldnt have any looseness to it and dual mass flywheels are VERY expensive to replace, BUT yes it can be converted to a solid flywheel, check out autozone.com part number MU1989 or advanceautoparts.com part number 798, that should get you on the right path to curing your problems, i welded the two independantly turning discs of my dual mass flywheel together but i wouldnt recommend anyone doing that without the proper equipment to do so (i.e. precision lathes, cast iron welding rods, etc)

2003 Tiburon 6 spd clutch replacement now tranny won't respond

Possibility, you may have intalled the clutch disk backwards.... if so, the disk hub is torqued against the crankshaft hub preventing engagement of the clutch. 2003 TIBUORN DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL AND CLUTCH DISC ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION PROCEDURE DESCRIPTION: The 2003 MY 2.7L Tiburon vehicle equipped with the 6-speed manual transaxle employs a dual mass flywheel system. The 2003 Tiburon Shop Manual does not show the clutch disc assembly with the dual mass flywheel. This bulletin provides information about how to assemble these components. NOTE Although it is possible to assemble the clutch disc with either side facing the flywheel surface, only the assembly of these two parts shown in this bulletin is correct.
PARTS ASSEMBLY:
  1. Attach the dual mass flywheel to the engine crankshaft assembly.
  2. Identify the clutch disc flange side and the collar side as shown. 0240025a.gif
  3. Install the collar side of the clutch disc on the dual mass flywheel surface so that the flange side is facing the pressure plate side as shown. 0240025b.gif
  4. Attach the pressure plate to the dual mass flywheel and complete assembly of the remaining components per the Shop Manual procedures. 0240025c.gif
