Just replaced the blower motor and blower motor resistor on my 97 jeep wrangler. I was only getting air flow on the high setting and only for about 2 minutes before the motor sounded like a dying cat and the quit working. As soon as I replaced both items, I get air and changing speeds, however there is a terrible noise like something is rubbing, however I can not seem to find what is rubbing. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'm not 100% sure where it is, or possibly built right in to the dash control/fan switch, but I'd be tempted to stop & see the parts guy at the dealership, or another dealership, and ask if they have one, or a picture of one. Once you see it, you'll know where to look. Just a guess but quite often built right into switch on dash.

You have to take the glove box off and it is right behind it, need a #20 Torx to take it replace it. The glove box is the hardest part of the job, I just replaced mine on an 05 Grand Cherokee but it didn't fix it for me, was well worth the $8.60 to try though.

Blower motor resistors are found on the pasenger side ducts near the blower motor. It should have three wires going to it.

Run a new wire to the motor from the switch this will do 2 things for you. It will tell you if your switch is still good, and if it works you just fixed your problem.

I am having the same problem.First I had only heat on high setting then heat worked great as long as Jeep was "cold" in the morning. Finally got to the point where it didn't work at all. For the past couple months it only works if I give it a "love tap" with my foot on the air box.Today it finally quit.I can here something tapping near the blower motor like maybe the squirrel cage is dragging. I have done everything short of replacing the motor.Do any of these symptoms sound familiar??
