Rear passenger side door will not open

Suddenly and without any known reason I cannot now open the rear passenger side door of my X type Jaguar. The window will not open either so power seems to have been lost. Any ideas how I can open the door and then repair the fault?

Remove the door card and connector block from the lock and feed a 12v supply to the lock connector. This should allow the solenoid to deactivate the lock.

The problem would be the wiring on the door, possible a break in the wire, therefore the window and the central locking isnt working, possibly the earth wire is broken, open the front passenger door and u should see a sleeve connecting to the rear door, that is where the wiring to the door is, check ! also i would check the fuses. thanks

SOURCE: rear passenger side door will not open

Have you tried to open it from the back seat? If you have then you will have to take off the cover on the door and there should be a release button. Most covers are easily removed with a flat head screw driver - If your door requires a motor to operate than that is your problem. Hope this helps.

S type jaguar alarm problem

are you saying the front door does'nt lock with the central locking ? if so then the cental locking is usually controlled by the drivers door lock that sends signal to the othe door locks so depending which front door it is that will be the place to start , at least you know the alarm works

had a similar problem with a hyundai coupe , this turned out to to be the door lock mechanism in the drivers door, so could be the place to start, as i would have thought that generally the power locking technology is the same universally

problems with 3 out of 4 doors? Has your vehicle been in an accident just before these problem started? Cavaliers are known for problems but I have never heard of this type of situation unless the vehicle has been in an accident and the body wasn't realigned properly or verified.

Typically when you get a door that opens from one handle and not the other the problem is inside the door and part of the latch assembly has either broken or come apart. To fix it you have to open up the door itself and get to those controls.

The reason I asked about the vehicle being in an accident is because you described the door opening on it's own. Now that could have been because it didn't catch correctly but with all the other problems you mentioned I am concerned that the doors are out of aligned.
