SOURCE: i need to adjust the tickover on my volkswagon

idle speed is not adjustable, it is controlled electronicly by the ECU powering a motorised butterfly valve or throttle plate. You didnt say what the problem is. poor idling/cutting out on idle? This somtimes can be cured by cleaning the throttle body and butterfly, but this will then have to have its basic settings performed by a plug in diagnostic machine.

SOURCE: 2001 VOLKSWAGON GOLF 2.0 L ENGINE KEEPS

If you haven't replaced your water pump (composite impeller) to an aftermarket (metal impeller) then your heating problem lies in there. VW uses a plastic type impeller which cracks at the shaft connected to the pulley that drives it. When that happens, it might spin slower than engine speed or not at all. This will be a good time to do a timing belt service because it has to be removed out of the way in order to get to the water pump housing, so keep that in mind. Water pumps range from $69.95 - $89.95 from most VW internet shops that also offer free ground shipping.

The shift is stuck in park. Have tried to get the slector out of park with no luck. Help Please.

Look under the dash, on the brake pedal arm. There are one or two switches that activate brake lights and/or shift unlock. Check for loose mounting nut or a missing rubber nubber. Is the brake pedal coming all the way back up? Look on the floor for something not usually found there. These switches are adjustable and it may be as simple as adjusting them. Have a helper look for brake lights on and shift lever unlocked while you push and release the switches with your finger. Depress the brake pedal to get it out of the way. Remember to set the park brake first. Could just be a bad switch or loose connector. Check fuses and the bulbs. Is shifter fully in Park? Also try jiggling the turn signal lever.

My automatic volkswagon passat will not shift out of park.

You may try to take the console out from around the shifter and in there its a little moving rod that kind of rocks back and forth to unlock your gear from park when the brake has been steped on.A lot of times drink gets spilled in those and then when you step on the park brake it want disingage which makes it stick in park intermitinly.Any questions just let me know

    Golf MK4 Handbrake blocking

Seems like your rear brakes are staying stuck in locked position when you release the E-brake. Try to adjust the e-brake from under the car first. If that does not work then remove the rear drum, and there is a adjustment bolts. Turn it a few turns put back on the drum and try again.

    Settings

Just one question,, 99 A3 or A4 chassis? An A4 chassis is not adjustable per say. The only adjustement to the camber is to shift the subframe unit left or right to make the 2 sides more equal possible. By shifting the unit after slacking the 4 bolts holding it to the chassis one side will become more negative and the other more positive as the 2 move together. There is a little adjustement in the ball joints but usually will make more problems to the caster when touched. By shifted the unit forwards and back you'll play with the caster a little too but not recommended. If it's still not in specs after doing this by alot you might consider something is bent.
