Engine Light On

I am not happy at all with my Mercedes C230 Kompressor. I have had to put a lot of money into this car in the last year to keep it running. This past weekend the car just died on my at a stop light. It has 96k miles on it, so maybe this is just what happens with these cars. I had to replace the fuel pumps and it cost $1500. They told me that the spark plugs, brakes, fuel injector and several other parts should be replaced, total cost around $2 - $3k. I did what I had to do to keep the car running and replaced the fuel pumps. Now the engine light came on exactly one week after. What does this mean? Is it something in addition to all the other things....or is the engine light telling me that I have the problems I already know about?

My biggest problem is that I take my car to the dealership...I know the dealer always overcharges, but Mercedes sells you on a yearly service check that costs about $700 to do. The work that is actually done is basically what is done at Jiffy Lube for $75. But they claim that you will be checked completely and that they will really look into the car. This clearly is not the case. What a scam Mercedes runs with their service department. My advice to anyone considering a Mercedes.....Buy a Lexus or a BMW!!!

If its the intake manifold code, prevents air from getting in and may cause car to jump or even turn off at a stop light.
This is not as bad as one would think. More than likely a plastic actautor broke...this one dude sells metal ones for like $20. You can get a good mechanic (my Mexis guys can) that knows how to get out the intake manifold for under $500. What I did was kinda ghetto but it did the job got a thin metal wire to keep open the actuators. The check engine light turns off but when I rev it it sometimes turns on but then goes off again. Luxgovisual.com if any questions or need some cool art :)

Do NOT take it to Jiffy Lube or any non-Mercedes place (independent shops are fine) for oil changes -- yes, the $150 oil changes are killer, but you need them. Your car is meant to go 14,000 miles give or take between oil changes. The oil (Mobil 1) and filters (Mann/Mahle/OE Genuine) that MB uses on your car are meant to last that long. The Fram/Purolator and Pennzoil/Quaker State/generic that Jiffy Lube puts in will last 3000 miles -- and even at that are not of sufficient quality to lubricate your engine properly.

Find a good independent Mercedes shop, it sounds like you're getting scammed by the dealer.

Yes, i have a c230 mercedes kompressor.

not necessarily
when diesels knock and diesel at low rpms it generally indicates a dribbling or leaking injector/s
have an accredited diesel repair shop check it out
If it has some miles on it and the injectors have never been done then the injectors are a fair bet
