1996 Olds Aurora no shift stuck in second gear

My 96 Aurora one day started jumping in and out of drive and then just got stuck in second gear, manually shifting doesn't help. No signs of slipping before this happened but check engine light is on. Trans has only got 122,000 miles on it. Any ideas?

My 1996 olds Aurora did the things yours is doing I replaced the fuel pump sensor myself for 7.00 or 8,00 dollars that solved the problem. That may help.It seemed to be acting like it was out of gas I hope this helps

Can anyone tell me the solution for transmission stuck in 2nd gear for Aurora '95

The shift solenoids in the transmission. My 96 had this problem in June. We had to replace those ($45 ebay) and then clean the pan to clear out all debri. Dealer wanted 820 to do it, paid a local guy 200 plus parts to do it.

I have a bad trans in a 96 olds aroura

Unfortunate all that is available for transmissions for the 1995 and 1996 aurora are the 1995 and 1996 year! The transmissions fron any other year are not compatible or interchangable on the 95-96 years!
