Gas gauge problems with 2004 Buick Rendezvous

Does anyone know how to fix the gas gauge on the 2004 Rendezvous? Mine is stuck at the bottom between the full and empty mark... Way past full, it won't move. Is there a fuse I can try replacing?

I have a similiar problem. My gauge will read empty, then when I pull into the gas station, it will only allow between $10 to $22. It will at that time read full, but about 40 miles later, read empty again. Do you think I still need to replace the sending unit and please give me an estimate of it's price to repair?

    Thanks

I have a similar problem. My gas gauge bounces up and down. It will read full for awhile, then half, back to full, then below half. Well you get the picture. It that also the sending unit? Not sure if it's my imagination, but it didn't start happening until I used a certian brand of gas.

There's a couple of other things that also cause problems with the gas gauge in the Rendezvous'. There is a connector under the driver's seat, I think it's C305, that gets water in it. You have to access it from under the car, but don't have to have a lift. Not to hard to get to. Clean that out with the spray cleaner for electrical parts. That's the least expensive option to try, and a well known issue with the Rendezvous.

The other possible problem it could be, and also the Rendezvous' are notorious for , is the instrument cluster is bad and needs to be replaced. In my 2003, the gas gauge quit working about 6 years ago, then it started working again, but the part above the steering wheel that shows which gear I was in quit, which was no big deal. But I HATE having to figure out how many miles I can drive without a working gas gauge, so had to have the cluster replaced. If the gauge is stuck, and not moving, probably isn't the cluster, but definitely worth cleaning that connector under the seat.

No, there is not a fuse for this. Unfortunately, you have a bad sending unit. In order to replace the sending unit you have to drop the gas tank. Sooo............drive it more to get rid of all of that gas and it will be easier to put back up.
please remember to rate this solution.

Gas gauge problem on my Buick Rendezvous is sometimes showing empty when i know there is gas in the tank

The sensor is worn out - it's covered in the gunk that normally accumulates in the tank so the sensor needle sometimes gets stuck or it no longer makes contact. You could clean it but the problem will return quickly.
Just replace the sensor.
