I have a 1996 Mercury Sable and the dash lights and marker lights are not working. The head lights work . I checked the fuses and they are good. Pulled out the headlight switch and replaced it and still not working. I jumped the wires and was able to get the marker lights on but when I put in a different headlight switch they still dont work
I'm showing a brown wire coming out of the headlight switch on 96-99 models going to the park lights.
Do you have power on that circuit leaving the headlight switch ?

You would have to check and see if you are getting any power out of the light switch. There is a seperate wire for the headlights and the dash lights.

are you sure the bulbs are o.k.? if they dont work on both high and low you have ground wiring problem. ground the black wire at the plug with lights on.

check for voltage in the socket. positive is the center connection. if you have no voltage there, then you may be right. Make sure that you check the wires.

best bet is get a WIRING DIAGRAM. you should have current (12 volts) on both sides of the fuse that works the tailights.if not there is probably a broken wire or a shorted wire leading up to the fuse. you kinda need the wiring diagram so u can see in which order the current "flows" which will help point u in the right direction.

the bulbs are working and I am getting power out of the wires. I jumped from the hot wire and was able to get the marker lights to come on
