1994 saturn sc won't start after driving couple of miles

This car will not start after it's been running just a short amount of time.
After about an hour it will start.
It is acting like it is flooded and there is a smell of fuel after it does start.
It started doing this about a month ago happening once and has just progressed to doing this everytime it is driven.

The common problem on these cars is a bad coolant temp sensor when they start going bad they will read a cooler temperature for the computer than the actual temp some times it is a big difference.and the colder it reads the more gas will be supplied this will flood the car and you will smell gas.the part is cheap.about ten dollars

Car starts runs fine drive about 10 miles and it shuts of just like you turn the key off then it will back fire at times let it set for awhile it will start back up and run

Possible fuel pump problem. Check pressure at port on intake.
If the hose is long enough and made to withstand the pressure, it can lay on the windshield, held by a wiper blade to be read while driving.

Oil look black after few days of oil change

You have a lot of sludge build up . There is a product in most auto parts stores that you add to tour engine oil. You run the engine for a short period of time. Drain the oil and replace with fresh oil and filter. Depending on the amount of sludge you may have to do this several times. A Good thing to do is remove your Valve cover, If it is covered in a thick or even brittle black goo it means that the oil has not been changed every 3,000 miles as recommended by ALL manufacturers. And you may have bigger problems down rge road. Don't forget to replace valve cover gasket.

Just Replaced the Water Pump....Still wont start??? If my Water Pump goes out while driving and I attempt to start the car several times, does this cause valve damage or any kind of damage?

Pulling plug wirs is a big mistake unless you know what your doing and you don't sound like you do. It sound like a frost plug is corroded away. You should be able to start your engine even if it had no coolant at al. the coolant only cools the engine ,it does not stop it from running. Now you need a wiring diagram for your engine to see if you have the wires in the right place.......otherwise the engine will not start ever.Worse case ....it could be a head gasket and if that is the case give it to someone whom wants a free car to work on themselves...............Ken

My 2001 Saturn SL1 with 140 miles won't start. It was running fine then went out to start it this morning and nothing. When I try to start it the clock on the dashboard resets. Headlights won't...

put a drop tester across the battery its flat for whatever reason or had its life so try charging it with a trickle chearger for a couple of days and if still no start then renew it

97 Saturn sc1 engine lacks power after warming up.

Check to make sure that one of the pulleys are not sticking on your serpentine belt line, or better known as the belt drive. Such as an alternator that is that seizing up, or a bad power steering pump.

Im looking into buying a 94 saturn with 215000 miles and the prev owner said that they were mostly highways miles but i was wondering if i were to buy it and take care of the engine would it last another...

you could get 300,000 miles on just about anything but its a chance nevertheless

personally, I have not seen many of these with more than 200,000 because there were head gasket issues at 150,000 or timing belt issues at 100,000

therefore, we assume that these were already taken care of or they are about to be in need.

Unless the cost of the vehicle is $500, I might consider something else
