My cruse control suddenly stopped working for my 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

There are several possible reasons why your cruise control may have stopped working. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose the issue:
  1. Check the cruise control fuse: The first thing to check is the fuse that controls the cruise control system. Refer to your vehicle's owner manual to locate the fuse box and find the specific fuse for the cruise control. If the fuse is blown, replace it with a new one.
  2. Check the brake light switch: The cruise control system is designed to disengage when you step on the brake pedal. If the brake light switch is faulty, the cruise control system may not work. You can test the switch by pressing the brake pedal and checking if the brake lights come on. If the brake lights don't come on, you may need to replace the brake light switch.
  3. Check the speed sensor: The speed sensor is responsible for detecting the vehicle's speed and communicating it to the cruise control system. If the speed sensor is faulty or dirty, the cruise control system may not work. You can test the speed sensor with a multimeter or take your vehicle to a mechanic to have it tested.
  4. Check the cruise control module: If all the above steps check out, the problem may be with the cruise control module itself. The module may be faulty and may need to be replaced. You can take your vehicle to a mechanic to have the module tested and replaced if necessary.
It's always recommended to consult with a certified mechanic or technician to diagnose and fix issues related to the cruise control system in your vehicle. They will have the expertise and necessary tools to troubleshoot the problem and provide the appropriate solution.

Where are fuses for cruise control

If cruise control main light comes on but you cannot set a speed (no set), you could have a bad brake pedal switch.
(If the cruise control light comes on, chances are that it is NOT a fuse issue).
Some vehicles have two switches (one for brake lights and one for cruise control cancel) and others have a multifunctional, single switch.
The function to cancel cruise control is very sensitive so it only takes a small movement of the pedal to cancel cruise control.
You can try lifting on the brake pedal while trying to set the cruise, but this does not alway work. Replace switches are pretty cheap (less than $30) and pretty easy and quick to replace.

Crusie control does not work on 2011 gmc sierra 1500 and I've already replaced the switch?

If the switch is replaced, then it can be wiring issue or faulty cruise control board. But as the switch is replaced, get the voltage at the switch tested to confirm the switch is actually receiving voltage. If no voltage received at switch power supply wire then ,apply external 12 volt power to the cruise control switch wire and then see if cruise control comes ON.If yes, then you know wiring is issue.

Brake light switch on 2002 chevy siloverado

Cruise control deactivates once you press the brake pedal. The brake switch us an input to the cruise control module. So it is possible that your brake switch went bad keping the lights on and making the cruise control module think you are applying the brakes when in fact you are not. Replace the brake light switch and check operation.

How to fix cruise control

Cruise controls can cease to engage if the clutch or brake light cruise switch are out of adjustment. If this happens, try placing you foot under the clutch pedal (if equipped) and lift up on it (toward you) and hold it while engaging the cruise. If it now works, it will likely cut out when you remove your foot from under the pedal. Check the brake pedal in an identical fashion. Adjusting the switch at the pedals can often solve he problem. Some vehicles (Honda, Acura, Ford, to name a few) have a plastic insert that mounts in the pedal arm which presses against the switch. These can become brittle and fracture into pieces. My Acura has little pieces of blue plastic on the floorboard around the brake pedal one afternoon and I noticed the cruise didn't work. It was the pieces of the insert that had come to pieces preventing the cruise from coming on. I replaced the insert and no more problem with the cruise.

Cruise control not working is there a fuse for this Ron

Hi, there are two brake switches on this system, one is for a Brake Light circuit while the other powers up the Cruise Control and Brake Transmission Shift Interlock Solenoid. This switch is a normally closed switch that opens when the pedal is depressed. Power from this switch is feed to the PCM which then powers up the Cruise Control Servo. The contacts of this brake switch can make poor contact which reduces the current flow to the Cruise Control Servo. To test for this problem, find the brake switch with the Gray wire and Brown wire. Back probe and jumper the Gray wire to the Brown wire. Test drive the vehicle. If the cruise control now works, replace the Cruise/Shift/Interlock Brake Switch. The brake switch is located behind the brake pedal.

I own a 2005 GMC Canyon Five CYL and the cruise control stopped working last niight. You push the button and no cruise. I checked the fuse and it is ok I exchanged with another 10AMP and no change still...

Start with the simple and check the fuses and the Stop lamp switch. Check your brake lights, if they're not working, the cruise won't work either. If they're not working, check the fuse for them, if the fuse is fine, then take it into the dealer, there's been a recall issued on the brake switch, so it should get fixed for free.
Cruise Control Disengaged
The powertrain control module (PCM) disengages the cruise control operation based on the signals from the following switches:

* The stop lamp switch
* The TCC brake/cruise release switch
* The clutch release switch, if equipped
* The cruise control On/Off switch

The TCC brake/cruise release switch and the stop lamp switch are mounted on the brake pedal bracket. When the brake pedal is applied, the normally closed TCC brake/cruise release switch opens and the normally open stop lamp switch closes. The PCM detects a low signal voltage on the TCC brake/cruise release switch signal circuit and a high signal voltage on the stop lamp switch signal circuit. When the clutch pedal is applied, the normally closed clutch release switch opens and the PCM detects zero voltage on the CCP switch signal circuit. The vehicle speed stored in the memory of the PCM will be erased when the cruise control On/Off button is turned OFF, or the ignition switch is turned OFF.

The Cruise Control System will disengage when the PCM detects that a driver override function has been active for approximately 60 seconds .

When the Cruise Control System is disengaged, the PCM sends a class 2 message to the instrument panel cluster (IPC) in order to deactivate the cruise control indicator.

Cruise Control Inhibited
The powertrain control module (PCM) inhibits the cruise control operation when any of the following conditions exist:

* A cruise control related DTC has been set.
* The vehicle speed is less than 40.2 km/h (25 mph) .
* The vehicle is in PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL, or 1st gear.
* The engine RPM is too low.
* The engine RPM is too high, with fuel cut off.
* The vehicle speed is too high, with fuel cut off.
* The system voltage is not between 9 volts and 16 volts .
* The Traction Control System (TCS) is active for more than 2 seconds .

Thank you for using Fixya and start with replacing the stop lamp switch. Even though the brake light work, it;s been known for that switch to cause your issue. that's way there was a recall for it.

Cruise control does not work

Replace the Brake light control switch located in front of the brake peddle under the dash this also turns the cruise off when braking. While driving put your foot behind the brake peddle and pull back toward you while doing this try your cruise if it works there are three possible causes or a combination of all three. Brake control Switch, Loose or sloppy brake pedal not activating the Brake switch properly or week brake pedal return spring. Good Luck.
