What number oil do i use for 1997 honda prelude?

  • Hi, You want to use a 5W30 weight oil for your car. I would recommend a High Mileage 5W30 motor oil as well. High Mileage has some detergents and additives that help swell the seals of engines with over 75,000 - 100,000 miles on it to prevent minor leaks.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Runs great, but stumbles(200/300 RPM)at idle

Thats usually a bad symptom. Burnt valve. Do you see white smoke when you first start the car in the morning? If so valve guides and and valves need work. I just went through it with my car. I removed the head and had it overhauled 2 hundred bucks. and now it runs great. Good luck P.S if you have a shop do it it will be 14 hundred.

Honda prelude a/t transmission

Check transmission fluid, our cars are pretty low and unfortunately automatics transmission sit pretty low so its possible you have a leak below or are just running low on transmission fluid.
