the motor that moves the seat forward and back is gone. i had the same problem. just replace it. it's the small motor in front of the seat. u have to take the motor out if u want to manually move it forward and back.

Most likely this is the control switch causing this problem.

I have a 1995 jeep grand cherokee and the power seats will go up/down and tilt forward/backward but the seat is all the way and will not move forward. What can i do?

Hi Christy,

The first thing I would do is to look under the seat with a flashlight and see if there are any dammaged wires. This is the most common cause of seat failures. Things get stuffed under the seats, then the wiring gets dammaged when the seats are moved back and forth.

Other than that, all I know to tell you is that you must diagnose the circit that runs the motor that moves the seat forward and back. It could be the switch, the wiring, or the motor itself.

On a '97 jeep grand cherokee limited, do the back seats lay forward? If so, how do you put them down? Thank you.

On each side of the back seat (the part you sit on), there is a loop. Pull this up, and the seat cushion will swivel up towards the front seat back. Visible at the lower corner of the seat back, is a lever that tou can pull up ( the earlier versions needed to be pushed down or back). The seat back will then fold /down/forward. The headrest must be removed so that the seat back can fold flat. The headreat can be removed by turnibg the small knob at the base of one of the head rest shafts. There is a small arrow indicating the direction of rotation to accomplish this.

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. My drivers side front power seat does Not stay adjusted. Every time I turn the ignition on the seat moves backward and the back lays down.

The limited edition brings memory setting for mirrors and seats, it recognizes which key are you putting in the ignition and puts the saved setting accordingly to that driver's key. That is the reason your seat keeps moving. You need to reprogram the seat position for that key. Good luck

My drivers side power seat will not go back all the way

there could be two things, check to make sure theres nothing caught on the seat track, if not its possibly the power seat switch.

Drivers side heated seat doesnt heat up...

I'd check to see if you're getting power to the switch first. If no, check fuse, if yes, test switch. You might get lucky on this one.

Heated seats are not working but light is on

Sounds like the same problem I had. I brought it to the Jeep dealer and they told me that the heating element in the seat stopped working. They told me that the only way to repair was to take the seat apart and replace the heating element in the seat. Of course they will charge you the standard $80 to tell you this. and then quote you $500 plus to repair. I can't even remember how much, I have decided it was not worth it.
