Pontiac grand am 1994 water comes out overflow

This problem started after a mechanic replaced the heater core and the associated hoses. When the car was started for the first time after the work was finished it sounded great, but within five minutes the overflow tube popped off and the contents of the radiator shot out through it. The water was not hot. We ensured there was no problems with the connection to the fill bottle spout and the hose. Tightening the hose to it's limits will not hold it. The water will shoot out every time after about five minutes. Is it possible a hose is on the heater core so that pressure is going against itself?

First question: why was the heater core replaced. Was it leaking water inside the car? Or was it replaced due to no heat inside the car. If it was replaced due to no heat inside the car, the shop you had taken it to shouldn't have replaced the heater core until they conducted tests of why there was no heat even if the customer insists on replacing the heater core. The reason why I'm asking is there's a possibility of the head gasket was leaking causing the poor circulation of the water to the heater core. If so, you may have replaced the heater core for no reason and most likely cost you a bunch of money. I live by this rule in our shop: DON'T JUST THROW PARTS AT THE CAR! You 'll end up spending way more money than you needed to.

Heater blows air on low u can feel some warmth (barley) when i feel my hoses coming off my water pump to the heater core ones hot and one is cool.

sounds like there is a blockage in the heater core. I would sugest taking the hoses loose and using a garden hose see if water can flow thur the core. If it dont flow thru the core you might have to replace the core.

Water leak overflow hose......

The hose you are referring to is the drain from the heater box...gets rid of condensation from the a.c. don't connect it to anything. But, If any antifreeze (not plain water) is coming out of there, then you likely have a heater core leak. That said, if the engine is not running hot and you aren't loosing antifreeze, the level sensor in the tank is bad.

Pontiac Grand Am cooling system

A rubber elbow coming out of the firewall is probably the a/c evaporator drain. However, the heater core could be leaking and entering the evaporator case and coming out of that drain. Are you sure coolant is coming out of that elbow and not plain water?

1994 pontiac grand prix leaking water

It sounds like either the heater valve which may be located inline with a 5/8" hose or 3/4" hose or the heater core is leaking, a heater core is like a small radiator.

I want to flush the heater core

Take off the hoses at the bulkhead/firewall that go to te heater core, use a garden hose and back flush the core by forcing water through the smaller of the 2 hose nipples, if the water runs right through then you have a heater air temp control door actuator problem
